Just had the funniest thought. Going to the U.S for a holiday in Oct/Sept from AUS might as well bring my ECU with me and mail it Hondata to flash. I think our spec type R's are the same as you guys?

Dont think ill be flashing anytime soon though, just a funny thought that came to mind.

ECUs might be encoded differently for different regions

Yes, but I believe those tuning options all work on the 1.5T and 2.0 NA cars. Do we know if they work on this new Bosch ECU in Chinese FK8s? I would be really surprised if that's the case.

Nope, FK8 is a 718 Cayman money over there . No tuning market for this car in China.

@Hondata Are we getting close to an update, as far as price and features available at launch? Possible pre-order?

Sorry for being impatient, just with MoTeC and now Ktuner available, I'm slowly dying inside lol. If you guys can give any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We are making good progress on the FK2/FK8. Pricing & features will be released at the time of release. Unfortunately because of the way the ECU has to be unlocked here at Hondata, pre-orders are not going to work as we want to limit the number of ECUs we handle per day so that we can process all incoming ECUs on the same day they come in.

No soldering is involved. This is something which we have to do.
Can you elaborate at all about what the process is for unlocking the ECU? Is it a physical modification you are doing to the ECU or is it software derived? Sorry if this has already been asked/answered but I didn't see an answer in this thread.

Both. We have to physically remove the top cover of the ECU, then reflash the boot software of the ECU with modified software which allows OBDII programming. The pins we need to access are inside the ECU.

Do you have a timeframe for when you'll be announcing pricing and package? I was trying to sell my second car until the information of sending the ECU off for unlocking came out.
