I mean I do feel like I should say that I know that *some* drone is inherent with aftermarket high flow exhausts. All of my previous cars have had some drone, but it was only in certain rpm ranges and it was never enough to keep me from hearing the passenger - or enough to literally vibrate the whole car.

The AfE is both. Loud enough that I can't hear my music or the passenger (from 2900-3800 rpm), and also vibrates the car. If I have my key fob sitting in a cup holder, the car vibrates so badly that the whole key fob is dancing and rattling around in the cupholder. Almost like it's sitting on a subwoofer.

Some people can obviously tolerate it, but I surely can't. I'm just hoping I can sell it at this point. I've already come to grips that I'm going to lose at least 500 bucks. I'm just hoping I can sell it at all so I don't lose all 1575 dollars.
Should record a video of how it is in cabin

mine drones nowhere near this bad. i put my key fob there sometimes too and this does not happen

I'd love to know why yours is different, then. Mine was installed by a shop that is known for quality work, and they work on FK8's specifically.

I don't understand why some say they have little drone and others say they have tons.

Did yours change as it wore in?

I already did. You can't really hear it in video when recorded on the gopro. It just sounds like normal on video. I don't think the microphone can portray the boominess and bassiness of it.

I can still upload the video for y'all to see though.

This video doesn't do it justice at all. At 3k rpm the whole cabin is just one loud, toneless boom.

Honestly gopro just doesn't capture sound well. This video doesn't sound much different than videos I recorded with the stock exhaust. Gopro sound just sucks.

I just installed my afe cat back last night by myself and I can tell you it’s perfect. Granted that’s just my opinion and I realize drone is subjective for different peoples hearing but I have very little drone. It’s perfect

Man. I’m glad you’re happy with yours. Seriously I am. I just wish I was that happy with it. :(

When you’re on the throttle at 3k you’re telling me the whole car isn’t buzzing like crazy?

It's weird isn't it lol and like I said previously it does not hurt to recheck the exhaust just to make sure everything is in order from the band clamps. From the resonator from both ends are sealed and not having an exhaust leak.

Honestly being a engineer I don’t even listen to the radio because I’m so anal and feel the need to hear the cars sounds. My car doesn’t rattle or buzz at all in any gear at any rpm range. I made sure I triple checked all the connection points and even had to bend the heat shields a little out of the way as to not make contact with the bigger diameter piping. I’ve installed a good amount of exhausts and don’t really trust any shops to do work on my cars because if something goes wrong I can retrace my steps and diagnose the issue. I hope everyone having issues gets them sorted out but I feel this exhaust is the perfect mix of quality and sound. It’s loud enough for me when I get on it but even at cold start it doesn’t wake the neighbors at 6am when I leave for work lol.

I personally felt all the slip fit connections myself, T cold start and also after the car had warmed up for about 10 minutes. They just stood there with me and talked while the car was up on the lift, and they were checking for leaks just like i was.

Everything is sealed and installed perfectly. I’m no car noob, I did my first engine swap in 2005. I go back a ways and have pretty extensive experience. I checked everything over, they checked everything over. It is all good to go.

I’m going to put it up on the lift one more time and see if I can find anything wrong. I don’t expect to but you never know.
