I would buy the hatch for long-term err long commutes and here is the kicker. You drop the back seats, throw up a sleeping bag and you got instant motel 6. Can't do that with a si. and you will get tired, no matter if you are in a limo or civic or in an airplane with no noise or vibrations.

Seats fold down and make a bed just fine the Si I had to do it coming home from Virgina visiting Mom just needed a extra pillow to adjust for the slight raise of front seats head rest feet in the trunk

I travel about 115 miles round trip to work every day and I’m getting close to needing a new car for my commute.
The new si is on my short list because of the extra power and handling over a standard civic but I’m a little concerned about long term reliability.
I know the new si has only been around for a short time but just wondering if anyone here has been racking up miles on it and what issues they have had.

Thanks
It’s exactly what I bought it for and it beat out every other competitor! I drove minimum 110 a day but typically around 160 a day, I have averaged over 37 mpg on that commute since I bought in late October! I’m at 11k miles now!!!

Recently picked up a 2017 Si as my new daily. Have to say I’m enjoying the heck out of it. Commute is only 50 miles per day, but it’s the perfect car for a daily...fuel efficient and still fun to drive. Averaging about 35-36mpg hand calculated with a mix of city and highway, but can’t wait to take it on a long trip to see what kind of highway MPGs it can get. I'm coming from a Jeep, so the fuel savings is incredible lol.

Do it, I don't have a crazy long commute, but its long enough that I would get bored in most cars. This one is a blast (18 PMM sedan)

Aw man, you didn't get a hatch or Si, massive fail.

Too much yellow dye in that red. Don't like that red. I'm more of a maroon guy anyway when it comes to "red".

180 miles per day here with 10K miles racked up since mid-November and I don't have any real complaints about the car other than the seats on longer drives. I average about 37 MPG and it handles well in the winter, especially with some good snow tires. I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun with it in the summer.

Commute 95 miles a day for work and have minimal complaints. Seats are very comfortable and its a blast to drive. Wish 6th was geared longer (lower? not sure whats the term there) so that 80mph was at 2500rpm instead of 3100rpm. Id like to get more miles out of a tank before the light comes on.

My commute is about 40 miles round trip of mostly city w heavy traffic. I’m the opposite of most in that I don’t find the seats that comfortable and as I push the car more, not aggressive enough to hold you in place. Nevertheless, I wanted something fun to drive and that handles w a little power at the sacrifice of comfort and I no longer need a pratical car...Si coupe fits that want better than a blood stained glove on OJ’s hand. I look forward to the drive every time I walk to it. If comfort was most important, I’d bought an accord or a small suv of some sort.

Purchased last week in October of 17 just for the commute. Have logged 25k miles, 10k+ with stock clutch and Ktuner, DP/FP, and other mods still on stock clutch even running Vit Stg1 for a spell with no issues. I will say Vit's tune dropped me from 38mpg average to 33 over the course of 3 tanks so I use the 19/23 and return better mpg now on 93 octane than completely stock. Liftime of my 25k miles I have 37.1 mpg average as my hand calc and tracking with easily 22k of my mileage being done with cruise on at 80mph mixed toll road and interstate driving.

Car needed sound deadening but once that was addressed I absolutley love the car, I plan on 250k before I purchase a new commuter and build a block and larger turbo and make this my designated autocross/road course/1/4 mile terror:) At this rate that will be 4-5 years and when I compared to everything in it's class the LSD, Adaptive suspension, storage cubbies, and Largest of all Fuel mileage all put it firmly at the top of the desired list.

I went from my heavily modded v8 4Runner on 35's and 500+ a month in fuel on my commute to paying less than I paid for Fuel for ownership of the Si (monthly note, insurance, and fuel for the same commute comes in at under 450 a month):) That made it an extremely easy sell to the wife!!!!!!!!!

Editing in to add that that lifetime MPG includes 4 track days so far as well, which brought my mpg rating down considerably!
