The dry will lose some flow and filtering after each cleaning,
Don’t mean to drag up this thread, but I just bought an afe dry flow filter. How could the filtering be compromised if you’re just using water and warm soap? How does the filter degrade overtime with every washing?

Just like your clothes do after repeated washings is my guess.

I have the aFe Pro Dry S. It's an excellent filter. As far as it "degrading after washing", I'd think it takes quite a few washings to degrade in any way. And considering you probably need to wash it once a year, it will be fine. Remember that vacuuming it out a couple times between washings will be enough.

IMO the aFe dry is the way to go. Sure it costs more than OEM but it should last for many years and it flows better than stock. And no worries about the MAF. Plus, I've got slightly better throttle response and MPG.

Great. I kinda figured that afe uses good material to make it durable and long lasting. Just wasn’t sure by what one of the posters meant by loss of filtering.
