I am old to, lol.

I'm not wanting to pull the brake while driving but I hate having to wait on the car to disengage the brake. I am used to being able to start the car and be moving within seconds, now I have to give the car time to and be ready to take the brakes off.

At first I didnt like it for same reasons but now I like it. I use it every time I park and put in gear too.

A few times I pulled the electronic ebrake before a full stop and car locked up like traditional ebrake. It could work like a traditional ebrake or they could regulate it by speed.

I’m not interested in finding out... I don’t do ebrake pulls anymore because it’s not good for the car.

You are right, To start going, I push the button in and it takes 1-2 seconds for the ebrake to disengage. Like the other member stated that there was a pre-flight check list!

All OK now. Just put on the seatbelt right away and no need to manually release the ebrake. I just confirmed earlier today that this worked.

The part I miss is in the snow. With a brake lever if my back wheels start getting sideways it works beautifully to control their lateral motion a bit with the e-brake. Now it'll just be pinwheels down the hills. Not to mention I prefer hard-wired or physical anything over computer control...

I'm old also, well I think , but I still enjoy the occasional hand brake snow slide with my wife SI 2013.
She doesn't appreciated it has much! Ha ha

Ok. Thanks. This is what I thought. Not sure why the e-brake in a 6MT.
Because regardless of a manual left in gear or an auto left in park it's still good practice to set the "e"mergency brake.

At first I didnt like it for same reasons but now I like it. I use it every time I park and put in gear too.

Hmm they must have programmed the Si different. In my ext if I pull it while rolling the pads come out and kiss the rotors and the car jerks a little but it instantly released itself so they don't lock up.

You can leave it set and just drive. A soon as you start slipping the clutch the car senses the movement and disengages right away. I still manually do it most of the time though. (don't really know why is it will do it for me... And this is on an ext, not Si...)[/QUOTE]

hard to say, I would think it would be more expensive personally.
my guess is that it's cheaper overall when you consider that there are no mechanical push-pull cables attached to the lever of a handbrake, even though the solenoids on the calipers are more cost.
I doubt a feature like this would be on such a low ccost car as a Civic unless the tech has gotten cheap enough to jusitfy the company's profits

Actually what you experience probably exact same as Si. I do this accidentally (rushing) when only rolling a couples MPH. I’m probably going slow enough where it doesn’t releases because I’m at complete stop a second or two later.

I actually take back what I previously mentioned. I still have mixed reviews on the electronic ebrake. Living in New England where we get lots of snow. The hand ebrake was a security blanket.
