Does anyone know how long 2018 deliveries will continue in the states?

Interesting, is 2019 officially confirmed for the USDM type R?
I have a deposit and my dealer has told me I will either be getting a late 2018 or 2019. Why does there need to be confirmation of a 2019 Type R for North America? Does there need to be confirmation for the 2019 model of any Civic? There is absolutely no reason not to bring 2019's over as it's a low volume but not a limited production car.

are the dealers you guys are depositing at selling at msrp? There are a lot of dealers here on the east coast that have the type R with an avg mark up of about 3-5k.

Some of us are in Canada where there's no ADM. No deals here but at least I would be paying MSRP.

If you asked me a couple months ago, I would have said of course. However, seeing as it's February, and we know that production only goes to March 31st for the type R, I'd certainly feel better if I knew when production was going to start again. They are numbered which might imply a fixed run, they don't make Porsche GT3s or GT4s every year. (you can get a 2010 or 2014 GT3, but not a 2012 or 2013 GT3, they were not available for a few years in between generations) With discussion of a cheaper version and a more expensive version of the Type R possible in the future, I can see the current type R stopping, then a break with no cars, then resuming with these different variants. This is all conjecture, but I don't think we can just assume a 2019 either.

From the beginning it was said 2 years. It was never confirmed but I wouldn’t count on a 19. I did everything I could to ensure I got one sooner than later.

I wonder why that is so? Is this another case that Canadians are "nicer" than us Yanks? Or is this by law?

Apparently it's a law, so some shady dealers in the land of Maple Leaves sell them used for over. http://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/12130/this-dealer-is-charging-over-63000-for-a-honda-civic-type-r

I hate dealers so much. They should all just have wait lists, sell for MSRP, and make buyers sign contracts that they won't resell the car within the first year of ownership (otherwise you get flippers). Yeah, yeah, this is America and we have something called freedom. But the market is small enough that it's not just real demand pushing up prices, it's price fixing by enough dealers (there's a difference between a free market and a market small enough that a few bad actors can cause a market distortion and artificially high demand). I'd rather have the freedom to get in line and pay the fair price without flippers and greedy dealers.

Where was it ever said 2 years? Honestly there's been so much incorrect and misleading information let out about this car that I believe it will be just like the ITR where we got it from 1997 to 2001. The difference with the ITR is that Honda didn't sell every single one of them like the CTR and Honda has put a lot of advertising and has got good press so there's no reason to artificially limit the numbers when they can make them every year until the end of this generation. I'm not worried in the least that I will get a 2019 as I have already turned down a 2018 that's how little I'm worried that this will be the last year.

2018 deliveries will continue until they switch to model year 2019 at the Swindon plant. There will be 2019's.

I can't believe we're still having this conversation. When is this "limited edition" rumor going to finally die? I know people at Honda Corp. (not the damn dealers spreading stupid lies) and the car isn't limited to 2017-2018. It will continue through the life of the current gen Civic unless sales tank, which given they're still selling with an ADM, I don't think is going to happen. In fact, given the huge reception it got here in the U.S., I imagine we're now the biggest market for the Type R and we're going to get future versions from here on out.

We wouldn't be having this conversation if honda just mentions of it not being limited. Until they release that statement, people will still be talking about.

Is it confirmed that there will be a 2019? No. Do I believe that they will still keep making it? Yes. They don't have a reason to stop making it imo unless they introduce the 11th gen civic.

I double checked some of the articles about the Swindon plant production. In fact it says 13,000 units worldwide by March 31st, not that the run will be until March 31st. March 31st is just the company's fiscal year end, there's nothing else special about that date, so you're right, there's no reason to expect that's an end of production date.

In the US we only got the ITR from 97-98 and 2000-2001 we did not get it for 99.

Something interesting: if you check Honda of UK, there are two models if you try to build a Type R. The price difference isn't much. Navi, parking sensorsblind spot monitoring, etc are the features that change. You only have one engine to pick from. Another interesting thing is the red is the "as standard" color and it is extra for the others. If you don't pick the GT model, they don't offer it in blue or PMM. I wondering if the US variant will be something similar (stripped down version).
They only sell 2 models throughout the world like that. If there is 2nd model here it will be exactly that. Everybody is over thinking this big time. What does GT stand for? ;)
