As of right now my only plans for the car is to throw some great tint which I put on my previous car, and take it to get reflashed at a honda dealer. I'm sure the extra boost in power will leave me satisfied.
Welcome to the forum. I bought a SI Coupe 3 months ago.

Not sure what you mean by “reflashed at a Honda dealership”.

I had a 2015 also . I like everything about my 17 better , except that it has no sound .

Speed feels about the same . Power just comes on at different times .

5k to 7k on the 9th gen was better than what the new car offers imo . But for daily use the 10th gen is much better

Honestly the only thing I'm unhappy with is when people are on their phones at a stop light and don't move ....I used to just Rev up the engine in the 9th gen . In the 10th gen I do the same ...but nobody can hear it lol

There are some dealers, at least in So Cal, who will reflash it with a Hondata tune.

I came from a 9th gen as well(2013). Coming from someone who loved his gen 9- there is no contest, gen X is a significant improvement.

Items of note:

1. Gen X has more torque and you can feel it.
2. Gen X has the torque in a very useful location in the rev range- it never feels sluggish when you decide to pull during daily driving- the last gen Si felt gutless until you hit the latter end of the rev range(much like the S2000) and even then the surge of power wasn't as large as the gen X.
3. Last gen Si was heavier.
4. 30mpg highway was the norm on gen 9- it is easy to get over 40 in genX on the highway.
5. I could write for days on how much better the gen X interior is.

In the grand scheme of things I think the gen 9 Si is pretty forgettable. I think the genX Si may be the best Si generation of them all so far.

Agreed with all points... coming from a '15 Si. Comparing the overall improvement gen 10 had over gen 9... it makes the gen 9 seem like a much older car than it is. If you take the power train out of the equation... the car itself is still *so* much better. I've only had my current Si 3 months or so, but by this point with my '15 Si, I was pretty bored with it.

If they had given us an updated N/A with higher compression and DI... but in a Civic X chassis, I think it still would have been a win. With the world moving with CAFE and emissions though, getting N/A 100+ hp/liter cars like the K20A2 or F20C seems like a thing of the past. The K24Z7, while better in stock form than the A2 for around the town drivability lost a lot of it's fun.

As it stands, the little L15 probably has less overhead than our old K24s would have if you sunk a pile of money in one to go FI, but it still gives way more headroom tweaking the L w/a tuner vs staying N/A for the money. You still would have had a 9th gen that seemed like a cousin of a 8th gen that might have been ok in '06 but by '12 already seemed tired brand new.

I’ve found after full brake-in (6k) it’s faster and loader. It has a unique growling sound that’s really nice.

Where did you get that “full” break in is 6k miles???
It’s not. That’s when my car felt fully broken in. Brake in period is specified in owners manual. I believe it’s something like 500 miles. Many people have their own break and philosophy, which I have my own.

Manual says 600. I was just curious about the whole 6k thing, never heard that before.

Not to get off topic, 600 is the "drive nicely" break in but with time I've noticed most of my vehicles actually felt broken in around 3k miles. It's just a feeling not fact.

On topic. I had a 12 Si and gah that car was cheaply made, still liked it though. Leaned like a Camry in the corners. Got the 15 Si and build was muchhh better. My 17 Si in comparison handles worlds better than either of those did and I had the HFP suspension and larger rear sway on the 12. Power on the 17 feels better, it doesn't have the turned on feeling as the revs climb but it pulls better and naturally doesn't have to rev to make power. Build quality on the 10th is better in every way although the 15 wasn't bad. The only thing that makes me miss my 15 is the gremlins on my 17. Slow start in the cold "9th fired up instantly no matter what." Radio is a huge POS that's more temperamental than a trophy wife and I've gotten locked out of 1st gear 3 times now within the last couple weeks. It's these kinds of things why I don't own a WRX anymore, great cars but I can't stand having random little issues all the time that are almost impossible to diagnose. People accept them because it's just the character of those cars but I was hoping for more from Honda given the 9 I've owned. All in all unless anything gets worse I'll still be keeping this one for the long haul. I love that it's power is underrated from the factory and the little 1.5 is solid.

I agree that my exhaust note sounded a bit louder and fuller after a few thousand miles. It was very quiet and tinny during the first 600. I thought it was me but my wife commented the same w/o me saying anything about it to her.

LMAO! My wife said the same thing w/o me saying anything. When two wives say the same thing, it becomes facts!
