Ok, now I'm annoyed, the damn thing set my trip meter to reset every time the car is turned off and I can't figure out how to set it back.

Which head unit do you think is better than the current stock head unit with Carplay/Android Auto?

I've heard nothing but good things about the Pioneer series, that's likely what I'm going to go with instead of this.

I'm pretty pissed right now I can't get my trip meter resetting properly... frig...

you may have to set a default NAV app somewhere in the setting to get the nav buttons to work

It seemed to be set correctly to google maps.

I also found the radio disabled my eco-assist (the green bar on the dash) by default. This is another internal setting that is completely inaccessible on the LX models without the radio. One double edged sword with the Android radio is it opens up many of these settings, however they are labeled like shit so you have no idea what you're changing.

Keep saying... There are mtcd updates (the physical unit interface) and a custom ROM on XDA that fixes alot of issues...

Oh, other notes I don't think I've posted.

The radio does not use the stock microphone, it has one built into the face of the radio. It sounds muffled like you're talking in a barrel, people couldn't hear me worth a damn on the phone.

It kept hanging up calls after 15 or so minutes, happened multiple times during a 1 hour drive.

Some of this stuff could be fixed with software updates and patches. I really like the concept and there are some cool features about the radio. Being able to change the car settings that are not exposed on the LX/Sport is cool, however most aren't labeled well so you're guessing at what's being changed. By default for me it changed my trip metering setting and the eco assist backlighting on the dash, I had to dig through the settings to put them back to stock which I preferred.

Someone that likes to tinker and doesn't mind digging through XDA for posts and doing updates/hackery on the device it's a cool unit. Someone that just wants something that plugs in and works, probably not for you.

I'm returning it as for the money paid (slight discount, it was ~$579) I don't want to be out in the car every night trying to debug the issues I found during my drive to work.

I guess this is a story as to why you shouldn't buy any electronics direct from China. Most will be made for China and not translated into English correctly if they are at all.

Yup, glad to have firsthand knowledge, like I said, lots of cool stuff but just not there. I'd love if Pioneer or Kenwood could make something more compatible to the major brands.

Thanks for taking the bullet. Looks cool as hell, sigh... would have been a cool way to customize/personalize our cars.

If you're into tinkering with computers you could probably get it working well enough. The phone integrations worked pretty well it was just other ancillary stuff that turned me off.

Any update on the radio situation?
I ended up returning the 10.4" and traded the Civic for an Accord.

I've heard pretty good results with the 9" Phoenix one and I believe the newer 10.4" ones are a bit more "finished" but when I tried it out I wasn't overly impressed.
