What were you expecting when you clicked on this thread?
I was hoping that somebody more creative than myself would have come up with a solution that looks alright.

Dealer already drilled my bumper but I think it looks better this way. Universal license plate holder and zip ties. Had to roll the bottom of the plate.

Ugh, finally got a ticket last night, worse part was that I wasn't even driving the car (was parked, ticket was on stuck to windshield). $65:nono: Took five months though, I pass cops on a daily basis (NYPD) and most don't even care.

For those of us who are considering just going with the stock mount, what is the correct bit size to use when drilling the holes? I don't want to damage the anchors on the other side. I saw on one of the parts websites that we are supposed to use self-tapping screws, which would make me think it's possible to just screw them into the dimples without drilling. But then it's probably going to leave a jagged hole.

With the help with my friend, here's how my license plate was installed without drilling the front bumper. It's secured and doesn't really block the intercooler.

Thanks to @iforyou for sharing his 3D files. The support bar could be a little thicker to prevent the plate from resting angled, but otherwise it's perfect. $4.25 to print at the local library plus a few extra dollars for the screws, nuts, and foam tape.

Looking good man! Glad you like it! I ended up putting some foam tape behind my license plate so that it remains relatively flat/flush to the bumper and also it would prevent any scratches on the bumper.

I use adhesive foam weather stripping. Works great!

I had no idea this was an issue...I guess I should see how my dealer did it lol...didn't appear to be through the bumper of course, just thought it was the usual oem type I'm used to.

Its late, but I'll look tomorrow...now it explains why I've got a few asking me how I did this...but I didn't, came like this...

Maybe it is attached to the bumper...looks like it sits flush, I'll check it out later.

But honestly, I don't mind it...looks fine imo...excuse the dirty bumper :D

If you are wondering if that is attached to the bumper, it is. That's the OEM mount that came with all our cars, and it screws into the bumper, where there are presumably anchors underneath the dimples for that purpose.
