Messed up my passenger-side underbody spoiler bulling out of my driveway today, the black coating is a bit bent up in place, but mostly some heavy scratches.

Honda Civic 10th gen '18 Hatch Sport front underbody spoiler damage ZO6pxxW

Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with it? I was planning on just smoothing out as much as I could and repainting it, but I wanted to see if anyone had a better idea.

Honestly, and it'll depend on your level of OCD, but I would just sharpie that shit. Yes, you'll know, and if you look close it'll definitely be noticeable, but it's the cheap and easy method.

Haha, that's one option. I found this touch up paint pen which I'm considering, a little more expensive than sharpie but probably just as easy.

Touch up pens work wonders, when done right.
If not done right, they look downright worse lol.

But yeah, best of luck! That would keep me up at night for a few nights lol

You have any tips for using touch up pens?
Either way, thanks, it’s definitely bothering me but it helps that it’s not nearly as visible from the top, that pic is more of a direct side view lol

I donno if that pen you have there has the double-ended tips, one for paint and one for clearcoat...but google is your friend.

The biggest issue is getting an even, thin coat, instead of gobs that either run or dry in a bubble. You should use something very small like a toothpick to slowly fill in the spots, instead of 'brushing' or painting it on. Then let it dry indoors until it's completely cured, because if you don't it'll either run or crack. Then repeat in layers so it's the same thickness as your original coat.

It's twice as difficult if you have the clear coat separately, as you have to repeat the process with the clearcoat.

...or, use a sharpie :p

Maybe use painters tape to outline what needs to be painted. Then use thin brush strokes to cover it. If the color is off (2 toned look) when dried, do the same paint touch up process on the other side. It’ll look like it’s part of a paint design with style.;)
