Hey Guys,

I got a weird intermittant squeaking sound coming from the rear back left...sounds like the shocks squeaking over small dips( going slow)..I have seen a couple threads about wierd noises coming from the back when its cold but Im in cali so i dont have the low temps. Any ideas?

Could be sway bar bushings. I have very stiff rubber bushings made by Moog on the rear in my car and going over small dips and bumps i hear it squeak slightly. I also have some spring squeak out of my front Eibach Pro Kits, so it could possibly just be a squeaky spring. It shouldn't negatively affect driving at all, unless the sound drives you crazy.

I have the same issue -- sounds like a spring mattress sound LOL.

I'm on H&R springs but like Dawsonj said, it really shouldn't be an issue.

Still having the squeaking? And did it ever present itself as an issue ? Wife's on H&R springs as well and I noticed a minor squeaking on the front driver's side when going over bumps or dips.

Yup still squeaking on my front passenger side only. I've found that it only really occurs under 55 degrees F. Let me know if she's experiencing the same thing when it comes to temperature.

I wonder if it's an issue with install or the springs themselves.

It's only the rear right?

I have the same issue too - whenever i hit a bump the rear end squeaks like crazy.

I do have a progress rear sway bar that i might not have installed correctly...iono if that effects anything

It's only front passenger for me, I don't have any sounds from the rear that I know of...

I had the same squeak on my driver's side rear. The squeak turned into a clunk every time i made a slow right turn. Turns out i broke a sway bar end link.

I've been on my Eibach lowering springs and Koni shocks/struts for years and I still notice a slight squeak. I've torn the car apart a few times, and checked out every bushing, bolt, and connection and have honestly found nothing. I truly think it may just be mechanical noise, which is annoying, but nothing out of the ordinary. You can always try getting a little white lithium grease or WD-40 between any contact points the spring may have with the strut or control arm (not quite sure what the suspension geometry is like on the new Civics) and/or the upper spring seat.

I am in no way blaming OP with this statement, but the more I progress through my university's engineering program, and the more I work on my car, the more I realize that things like mechanical noises like this are just a normal part of owning a car. A lot of car owners immediately hear a noise and suspect the worst due to the assumption that their car should be silent. I completely understand the mindset you may be in after modifying your new car and hearing a noise you haven't heard previously, but I don't think there is any reason to worry. Reading that temperature may be involved leads me to believe it may be the rubber upper spring seat, or damper mount bearing. It could very well be the rubber compound reacting to stiffer springs producing more upward force, and when a load is changed on something like that, it is very common to hear sounds. Again, try some lubrication to these and any suspension component that is in contact with the spring.

Installed eibach pro kit this summer. No noises untill winter. The back squeeks like crazy when below 40*. If I park in the garage it will be silent for a few minutes untill it cools down and then it's more squeaky then pounding on an old mattress. I honestly can't stand it. Downright embarrassing.
