So what's new with the 2016 Honda Civic?
Pretty much everything. It is being built on a new global platform, which will underpin future Accords, CRVs and other Honda models.

What Civic models will be available?
The new Civic will be initially offered in Sedan form, followed by the Coupe, Si, Hatchback and the eventual Type R.

What engines will be available?
Initial engine offerings for the sedan will be a new 2.0 liter NA 4 Cylinder, paired to both a 6 speed manual and CVT. The 1.5 Turbo will come exclusively with the CVT only.

Note: 6 speed manual only available on the LX trim

What about the trims?
In traditional Honda fashion, trim choices will come in LX, EX, EX-L and EX-L Navi offerings. New additions include available Honda Sensing and Touring models.

What is Honda Sensing?
A suite of preventive accident technologies which include the following:
Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keep Assist
Road Departure Mitigation
Adaptive Cruise Control
Forward Collision Warning
Collision Mitigation Braking System

For more details on how each of these technologies work click here

What is the new Touring trim?
Honda's Touring trim is its luxury offering for buyers who want true premium features without stepping up in price to a full luxury car. While the full spec sheet has not been revealed yet, expect the Touring Civic to include Honda Sensing, Leather with heated surfaces for both front and back, Navi, Premium Audio, unique wheels and more.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like there'll be a ton more 2.0L models in inventory than 1.5T. Should we expect it to be like this at most dealerships?

Yes indeed. The majority of Civics sold every year are LX and EX models. In fact, if I had to guess what the spread was this year for my particular store, it would go like this:

LX = 70%
EX = 20%
EX-L = 5%
EX-L Navi = 3%
Si = 2%

A guess, but probably very accurate. I'm sure after the first few months inventories will settle to something like this.

Have you guys been given any indication of when you can order coupes or Si models yet?

I'm really hoping my friend at the dealership was talking about the Si when he said it would be announced at the LA auto show and start showing up on dealer lots in late December. Here's hoping! The earlier the better... but then again, I really want a hatchback. Hopefully the hatch body won't be reserved for the Type-R only!

Honda has not opened the ordering process for coupes or any Si models yet. Early next year is the current time frame.

I also heard rumors of a possible reveal at this year's SEMA or the LA auto show

I see the earliest car you're getting is a touring on 10/13-17? Is it already in?

Based on this I'm thinking there might be 2016 Civics at some dealers this weekend for us CivicX fans to check out!

Do you know approximately how many units a day are produced from the various plants?

it follows the current lineup that only the LX is available with a manual transmission but I do not like it. Having a exT with a manual trans will be a nice alternative to someone who can't afford an SI. I'm sure with a bit of work the turbo could come close to matching the power output of the current SI. Great alternative to a young kid who can't afford the insurance/payment on the SI. Buy low, mod with whatever bulks of cash you get throughout the year (Christmas, birthdays tax refunds etc etc) Its how I did things when I was first starting out.

The struggle. lol

Wow only 2% are Si models. Makes them seem even more special.

Based on your breakdown, the Touring model will only be 2-3% of sales also. They're going to be as rare as Si's

I wonder how this will look in canada as the 2015 civics here are DX/LX/EX/Touring/SI.
