How come?
because the Type R is my daily (aka only car aside from my wifes) and I wont be able to get anywhere for god knows how long they have it. Im curious as to why they arent able to do it remotely.

Time will tell once the release date hits. But my guess is maybe they need to solder a chip in to make it compatible with odb port flashing/tuning.

I think so too. It seems they need to modify the ECU internals somehow to allow flashing and changing parameters. The kpro I had for my RSX was done like that. That should explain why they physically need your ECU to be sent to them.

I have a 2nd vehicle but I really don't want my ECU physically modified as that's an easy way to void warranty coverage if you issues you have with the powertrain, whether a tune causes it or not. Since the ECU obviously controls the entire vehicle, the dealer service department can easily point to any problems as being caused by forcing the ECU to operate outside of its normal parameters.

I have changed so much in my vehicle already, it wouldn't matter to me.

He means that you should have gotten the Si. They already have obd tuning available with hondata and ktuner. No need to send the ECU in.
But why is it the wrong car? That makes absolutely no sense. I don't HAVE to tune my car. I can enjoy it as it is. I would like to tune at some point. It's my daily driver. It's my only car. So what?

I had the feeling that his opinion is that one should not use this car as daly driver....

Hmmm. The car was designed to be a very comfortable daily driver. They clearly expected it to be the case. I didn't buy the car to just enjoy it a few days out of the month. I bought this car to enjoy it every day. I'm still baffled by the people who think it's absurd to do so. Though it is a type r, it's still a honda civic. It's a 35k car... not a 200k sports car. If you want your car to sit in your garage and only take it out on track days, cool.. but don't tell me what is or isn't the right car for me to daily.
