As I'm about to buy Honda Care's extended warranty, I see that they offer a Maintenance Program which doesn't seem too bad price wise because if I buy it with the extended warranty I get $200 off.

I got a similar maintenance program for my last car (Audi S4) and it was definitely worth it, but the CivicX is a very different car that I'm using as a commuter...

For what it's worth, here's what the price chart looks like:

In the first four years, you will likely not need much more than four or five oil changes and a few odds and ends. I'd say, even with the 200 off, this seems rather pricey.

Just my opinion.

You're right, probably won't have enough issues to make up the cost *knock on wood.*

PS Sorry about your car issues!

@sparks I'm thinking about doing it. I looked at the maintenance schedule/estimator on Edmunds and I think the total over the life of the 48m/60k plan was about $35 more than if you were to pay directly each time at service.

I think the appeal to me is the (implied) coordination of benefits between Honda Care and Honda Care Maintenance.

I'd personally skip it, even with the $200 off.

With the cheapest plan per month/mile (48m/48k miles), you'd get, give or take:

2 air filters (about $20 worth). If you pay dealership labor to install this, it would cost more, but for something that takes less time and skill to install than it takes to drive to the dealership to have them do it, I don't recomment that.
2 cabin air filters (about $20 worth). See above.
Tire rotation. Convenient, but once again, not all that difficult to do yourself. Let's say this happens 4 times over the life of the car. You can get this done pretty much anywhere for less than a $20 spot. $80 value at most.
Fluids. This might be the most valuable bit of this, just because of the labor markup on draining and replacing fluids. Transmission might not hit in the timeframe of this plan, differential and brake fluids should be changed (and you should hope that maintenance minder cooperates). Maybe $100 worth of labor?
Oil changes. Under normal circumstances, you might get about 6 over 4 years and 48k miles. $40 each? About $240.

Some back of the envelope math there suggests it's worth about $460, a little bit more if you would have taken it into the dealership to have them replace the air filters anyway (as I suggested, it's probably more convenient to just do that yourself).

If you plan an awful lot of short, hard drives on the car (i.e. maintenance will trigger sooner than normal for that reason), maybe this is worth it with the $200 off. If you would otherwise plan to do the simple stuff (rotations, air filters, potentially fluids) yourself, not even close to worth it.

I had it included with mine for "free." Of course I'm sure it was built into the price, but I a pretty good deal on my EX so I didn't make a fuss. My dealer has an Acura dealership very close to my house, so I'll just take it there for the servicing and it'll be pretty convenient. They'll give me a loaner car if I don't want to wait, so it's pretty hassle-free and will keep me from holding off on any service if funds are tight or if I just hit a busy week.

I was kind of hoping Honda would include a 2 year maintenance plan at no cost with oil changes+tire rotation+inspections+roadside+other like Toyota does. I would try and negotiate in a couple of oil changes and tire rotations when buying my Civic. I like changing my own oil and doing my own maintenance, it gives me a chance to work on my car.

What does it cover? I know it covers basic maintenance like oil changes and such. But does it cover like check engine lights, allignments, electrical problems, etc?
