Looking at the 2016 (probably later) Civics seriously and one thing that concerns me is parking.

This would be my daily driver and every day I park it in a hotel parking garage which is next to my work (we're a small company). The problem is that its a very tight parking deck and so often there will be an oversized F-250 or whatever parked on the other side and I'm always terrified of hitting somebody. At least when I'm not driving my Miata which is very short.

The Civic is now the exact same length as a 2002 Accord.

What is it like to park the new Civic in tight spots? I'm sure the backup camera is a godsend (I wouldn't buy a vehicle without one). I hope its calibrated properly? Does it give you any notifications if you're getting close while backing up? Can you use the LaneWatch technology while parking?

I'm almost considering the Coupe down the line, but I really hate that the sacrifice that you make with the back seat. I have two kids that will be getting taller and taller and want it to be as comfortable as possible and an option to take during weekends as well.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I feel like it turns pretty tight.. not as tight as my previous 07 Fit but not as wide as my 2013 BMW. I really wish the car had top-down surround view cams so you can monitor curbs and manage how close you are to stuff :/

I find them accurate. You could always have a friend stand behind you and tell you where you are at so you can learn what it means for the various lines - or do some similar experiment until you are comfortable.

How did people park the boat sized cars of 1962?

They're accurate enough, and your brain makes the mental calibration easily after you've done it a few times. The dynamic lines take some getting used to if you've only ever experienced static lines, but the dynamic feature can also be disabled if you decide you don't like it.
