Any shops already working on tuning these?

Just realized this thread was started June 17.

If we haven't heard something by now.....I'm starting to lose hope that we will. Back when I first got this car in October I truly thought that I'd already be dyno tuned at this point and have a few different maps for pump gas and maybe an E blend.

But we don't even have a "we're close guys" confirmation from anyone yet. Much less a workable tune.

This stinks. :(

I purchased mine in June. I figured it would be a year, before we had a decent selection of parts and tuning available.

It is frustrating when base Civic, Si and the new accord have tuning options available.

I know we have the option of MoTeC, but this just isn't an option for some people. After buying everything, you'll eventually want for the setup and getting a tune/retunes it'll easily be a 10k investment.

The 1.5 turbo has been out for 2 years or so, the 2.0 turbo for the USA for just over 6 months - patience (and $$$) will get what you desire.
I don't follow the 2.0 NA but am unaware of a tuning option from the major players (Kt & Hd).

I'm sorry for bringing this curse onto you guys.

For some reason, I ALWAYS buy cars that can't/won't be tuned. It happens every. single. time.
It only makes sense that Honda would try to protect its most prized possession by locking it down.

It took Hondata and Ktuner 12-14 months from launch to have public tunes available to the masses on these all new motors. Hondata launch date was like Dec 2016, the car launched in October 2015. As I said earlier, I think everyone is going to be in for a shock if/when these products do launch and cost $1500-$2000. then you are going to want custom tunes and flex fuel and you going to end up paying Motec money, especially for a hondata product that makes you buy all that crap separate. Want traction control on hondata, buy their traction control module. Like you need $2300 just get a flash pro, traction control, injector driver and Strain gauge. Thats using the $695 current flash pro price. Add $1k for Type R r&d costs. You still need a flex fuel kit or custom tune to run ethanol.

That's why I wish Cobb or another player will get on board. More heads the better. Cobb cracked the "unbreakable" encrypted GTR ECU. It'll happen, but it will take time. The more Type R's are sold the more the market will matter to other vendors. The typical owner will be very likely to seek out mods.

If it can't be cracked that's sort of a great thing in terms of its ecu security. The factory BOSCHE ecu is very power and has lots of computing power. But Motec's system has even higher processing power. Vs. flash tuning which uses factory ecu capabilities. The only thing the motec needs is some factory sensors wired into the motec and it's ready to start up and run perfect. Out of the box. Plug and play. Live tuning. Etc. and when you break something. You basically unhook the motec unit. Re wire the factory and get some lovely warranty work out of it. There is no evidence or tampering on your ECU but to say the bosche unit is shitty I think is wrong. It's currently frustrating considering we are all looking to modify our vehicles differently and we can't. But m142 GPR - DI is lowkey the best option. Possibilities are endless.
The FK8 ECU has already been read and written to on the bench. It can be cracked. A company with more staff could easily do a "send it in" style bench flash.

We bought the car in March '16 and launched public tune testing in April '16. :)

Me too. They, like me, have experience with the Bosch ECUs via the BMW realm of things. Shouldn't be too far of a stretch for them with the team of developers they have, but it's a small market and they've already been pushed out of the Honda realm before.

This almost sounds like it’s being put on hold on your guys end until the resources are available? Is that the case?

This was more meant to push other larger companies to get a move on. We don't have the man-power to offer a send-it-in option currently.

I agree its hard for you to sit there and bench flash ecu"s all day but I have 100% confidence in your developing skills to develop a flash software for this ecu....Congrats on the new product launch hopefully we will hear more about the type r in coming months!
