Thanks :)

Yes sir! Was supposed to check out the 2 red ones down the road at Honda Cars of Katy, but decided to check out Spring Branch Honda since they were selling $2K over with overpriced accessories.....
You would have wasted your time in Katy. There was a $10k ADM when I checked them out the week before Christmas lol.

They wanted $4K ADM for their 2017 one, not sure how much they want for the 2018 model.

Has anyone checked the dealers in the Midwestern states with winters cold grip on them maybe there are some willing to sell at MSRP?
Schaumburg Honda Automobiles in Illinois has 3 of them, 2 blacks and a red. I stopped in last Saturday to take a look at them as I still have not seen one in person. I was expecting them to be in the showroom. I walked in, and no Type R's in the showroom. I asked the salesman where they were and he says "we keep them in a garage across the street because too many people were brushing up against them in the showroom." Then I asked how much they're asking..."only 10k over MSRP". I politely turned and walked out.

Spoke with one of the local dealers here in ABQ, NM (Garcia Honda) and to say they are being crazy is an understatement- they are making $5k in accessories, ceramic coating, additional warranty, their financing, and a few other things mandatory. Out the door price comes out to about $48k after all is said and done. Absolutely crazy.
Every time I contact them, they say all their upcoming Rs have been sold.

I just checked inventory for Socal, more Type R's in-transit.
Yeah, not sure if Drive Green Highway is the ship all the cars come in on, but it does seem like a few days after it leaves Baltimore and heads back to Europe, the "in transit" cars start showing up on the website. Even though the dealers are clearly sitting on cars longer and ADMs are coming down (I think cars are selling for about $5K over in SoCal, despite dealers asking $7K-$10K), they're still not at a point where they regularly have multiple cars on the lot. I see a few dealers here and there with more than one car once in a while but I think ADMs will be around until at least most of the dealers are sitting on a couple cars.

I'm not even going to contact dealers about this round of cars coming in. It's a waste of time. They have my contact info. They clearly know they can still sell it for a good ADM, or they'd be contacting me to sell it today at MSRP. All this for a Civic. Honda fanboy loyalty. Sad. :)

Is there some advanced inventory checking technique you guys use other than the dealership inventory search on the main honda site? There's a dealership near me that I sort of have a soft reservation for, but doesn't show in transit for that dealership. According to their estimate the car should have been built in mid-december or so (so maybe too early for this shipment?)

CONGRATS! I got roughly the same price... 38K which came to little over 41K out the door. Didn't mind the ADM one bit. Ha, try not to mod it!
Thanks for your post a few weeks back. Stockton Honda didn’t have a Type R in stock when I called after you got yours. So I called around and both Honda dealers in San Jose had Red and White Type Rs. I ended up paying 36,900 plus tax/ license came out to 41k even.

I just spoke to the dealer I bought mine from he says there aren't any in transit at this time. He did say the next one they expect to get is going to be a lesser trim level. And he said it doesn't matter the trim if it's a Type R they will add a markup. The dealers are going to cause honda to kill the Type R in the states.

I inquired about one at a Honda dealership near me. Just asked how much actual asking price was. They texted back saying I would need to come to the dealership. I didn't answer any more texts from them but they are still trying to contact me. Which means they've probably been sitting on it for a while and they're anxious to sell. Haven't seen any on the road here in the Midwest. There are 2 other dealers that have one also.

I wish. Just using Honda's website. I don't have access to their inventory like some others do on here. Honda's dealer inventory check on their website sucks too. Clearly geared to try and get you to contact the dealer, even if they don't have what you want.

Kirkland Honda in Wa advertising a CW $39995
Iam sure a easy 5 minute deal would pay less....

Got an email from Honda of Kenosha and they lowered their price for today and tomorrow for a black Type-R to 34,990.
