Looking good! I'll plan to stop by next time I'm heading out the turnpike!
Stop on by! :)

will this cause any issues with the engine even though we don't have a tune yet? Also once we have the tune I'm assuming the new upgraded intercooler will help with making more power?
There will be no issues without a tune. The intercooler upgrade is a post MAF modification that doesn't change airflow dramatically. Ultimately a tune will allow you to add boost and make more power while the intercooler upgrade will help promote more power by flowing more cool air, thus reducing knock/detonation.

Those end tanks are nicely machined. I'll be ordering after I get some miles on my car and want to mod.
Thank you sir! :)

Ok will do! I'll let you know before I come out! (It will probably not be until May...)

any particular reason you went with a bar and plate design? from what i know (which isnt much), bar and plate blocks more airflow going thru the intercooler so the radiator behind it cant receive as much airflow. Concerning since the radiator is already struggling as is, and the blockage from the new intercooler may make it even worse no?

As UFO CTR stated, the factory intercooler is a bar-and-plate design. Bar-and-plate intercoolers are much more durable and dense. These cores act as a heatsink, allowing them to soak up more heat and dissipate much quicker than a tube-and-fin core. Also, size-for-size, a bar-and-plate core will flow much more air than a tube-and-fin core. This intercooler drastically improved heatsoak issues. Our goal wasn't necessarily to fix or aid in reducing coolant temps, it was to improve charge temps and offer more consistent power. If looking to improve upon the cooling system we suggest looking into a radiator upgrade and/or duct work.

how does this intercooler compare to other companies who are using bigger intercooler cores? A bigger, wider and taller core would cause for boost to drop and other issues correct? i know you guys tested this and have done your homework. by no means im trying to knock your work. i just want to make an inform decision and purchase. thanks

Great question! :) Generally, a "large" intercooler means that it requires a larger volume of compressed air to travel through it in comparison to a "smaller" intercooler. Adding volume typically means more turbo lag. This is where the saying "bigger is better" does not always apply. We designed and tested a variety of different intercooler cores that would properly suit the factory turbocharger while leaving room for turbo upgrades in the future. Our goal was to introduce an intercooler that did not create lag but also promoted maximum airflow and cooling characteristics in all aspects. Judging by our logs and dyno graphs which showed increased spool rather than decreased, we feel that we've exceeded our goal(s).

A "larger" intercooler may be more beneficial and/or better utilized with a larger turbocharger that requires more airflow. However, it's important to note that general size does not mean everything when it comes to intercoolers. As stated above, we designed quite a few different intercooler cores before deciding upon this particular core. After deciding upon these particular core dimensions for desired fitment we experimented with different internal/external fin dimensions for optimal airflow and cooling. (Charge air travels through internal rows while ambient air travels through external rows) The larger the internal fins, the higher the core density or ability to flow more compressed air is. The larger the external fins, the higher the cooling capacity is. Our intercooler flows as much air as possible (roughly 83% more than stock) while still drastically improving cooling (with roughly 85% more surface area) in comparsion to the stock intercooler. This intercooler will be plenty for most anyone!

You will not need a tune, the intercooler allows you to make more power consistently. An intercooler doesn't necessarily give you more power, however once you tune the car or track day the car the intercooler allows the iat temps to be cooler. The factory intercooler heat soaks after one lap (Pitt Race at our local road race track) or one hit on our dyno, this means the car looses power every time you push the pedal down do to heat soak. Running a larger more efficient intercooler allows you to make multiple pulls on the dyno without heat killing your power and run multiple laps on a track before your IAT set the car into limp mode.

@PRL Motorsports Do you know approximately how much longer you'll be running the pre-order sale for?
The sale will end by the end of the month sometime. We expect to begin welding these things up towards the end of next week. Once orders begin shipping, the sale will end. Realistically 1.5-2 weeks.
