Question about the base tunes:

1. When using the base tunes that come with the V1.2 do you have to use different levels of octane in order for it to work? i'm looking to primarily stay on 87-89 octane, only 91 if i absolutely have to.

2. So say I did decide to change from 87 octane to 91 octane, would I have to completely empty the 87 octane that is already in my tank and THEN put in the new 91 octane once my gas hits zero? or would mixing a little 91 octane and 87 octane be very bad for my engine (problem i am trying to avoid).

91+ is recommended and I would never recommend running less. That being said the ECU will pull timing and enforce limitations in an effort to protect the engine to compensate for lower grade fuels. It's fine to fill up with 91 at any time, but of course it's recommended to do so when the tank is low otherwise the 87 that's left is diluting the 91 and lowering the effective octane rating.

Dual boot man. You really gotta have a way to run Windows for the software this industry uses, whatever platform it is. So either run a virtual Windows environment, or buy a cheap laptop on eBay.

With an Android phone or tablet. Otherwise you'll need the V2 in order to do it from the touch screen directly.

I believe Vit has units listed that include tunes for the Si at no extra cost, so if that's what you're looking for check out his website VitTuned.com

Got mine flashed today - amazing difference, even just from a short drive! Went for the 19.5/23 dual, added no rev hang and early spooling - love it!

Noob question, though... I kept my laptop hooked up while on these short drives. I watched the knock count, just on a quick drive to the gas station, then grocery store - 5 minutes each. The knock count was up to 8 after each short trip. Is this normal? I admit, I have next to 0 understanding of what this means, and my Google-Fu is not alleviating my worry.

Knock control is the more useful parameter. I think 0.50-0.59 is the number to shoot for.

Ok - I was just going off of the default screen that shows up in the program as it is currently setup. I'll look for that next time. Will there be engine sounds or actions that indicate that something is wrong with a tune? Or is this something that's imperceptible?
