This is the worst car I have ever bought.

Topics like these are tough, because one's anecdotal experiences don't cancel out others' anecdotal experiences.

It appears that the OP is "outnumbered" by others who have had few, or even zero issues with their Civics. Still doesn't change the OP's concerns, but might at the very least offer up that perhaps it's not "common" for all the Civics to share the same issues. I'd say generally the reliability of these 10th gen Civics is good so far, and I'd project we won't see any major issues like Ford with their Focus RS head gaskets/heads blowing, etc. etc.

So far our 2017 Sport has been amazing, but admittedly it's only 4,500 miles in. i will say we do have a dash/vent rattle in the left most vent, and that shit is annoying. We had a similar rattle in our 2005 Element that we bought brand new in 2005, and owned for twelve trouble-free years. The dealer never tracked down the source of that rattle, and it'd come and go. Here's to hoping that our Sport hatch rattle can be tracked down, and fixed.

To the OP:

Sucks you're having these issues. You're on a Honda forum though, and some of us are life long Honda fanatics whom have had nearly zero major issues with multiple Hondas we've owned. I worked in the Honda repair industry for almost fifteen years, so I was fortunate enough to get very early indications from techs, etc. on which models to avoid. Using that knowledge lead us to buy a 2005 Element instead of the A/C exploding pile of shit CR-V of the same year model. Coincidentally a lot of the shit CR-Vs were made in...England LOL. You know, where all the hatches are coming from.

I'm of the same opinion that I try to avoid the first model year of ANY car, period. That meant we waited for our sport hatch until the Civic had been out for a full model year, and after talking to techs, reading, etc. we decided it'd be the first new Honda we've bought since 2005.

Having said all of this i'll offer a final thought:

Don't let this one vehicle deter you from future Honda purchases. I'd say your issues are minor, and associated with tech-rich features in a lower model on Honda's line-up. If you keep this Honda I think you'll find the major mechanicals will not give you any trouble for years and easily 150K miles if you maintain it properly. If THIS one bothers you so much sell it, or trade it in for another model with less tech shit.

Given how popular the vehicle/brand is, OP's negative experience should be the exception and not the norm. Nonetheless, OP's complaints are still valid because... statistics. To nagging problems related to build-quality or infotainment, we can try to offer explanations and/or solutions. On the bright side, there hasn't been any catastrophic issues related to engine and transmission. Also on the bright side, we can hope for more aftermarket support on the infotainment system because it is Android-based.

Hey he could've bought a 45,000 dollar BMW with a vanos issue. Okay jokes aside. I don't want you to feel attacked but I own a 17 EX-L all the options available. My mother drives this car. I only use the sensing to text and drive in track. (I mean why else use it. It comes with mirrors so you can see your blind spot) all around I love her vehicle. It functions great. Has decent power. Great fuel economy. And I also own a 17 CTR everything in close detail has some type of issue. Panel alignment blah blah. But dang I definitely didn't buy it to complain about shit paint or a crap sound system. If I had the option to remove the radio and stereo from the factory along with AC I would've bought it that way. But you can't in the US so simple solution is turn it off and listen to its quite turbo motor. As for the remote start. You sound like my moms haha no offense. It could just be user error. And the infotainment. I had a 9th gen Si, and owned a 16 Accord V6 EX-L the only issues are the lag. Reset your apps on your phone. Restart your radio by cycling the power on and off. Problem solved. The new version has Apple car play and google whatever the heck. I don't have an android but I gotta say I've never had this issue with my flip phone. My best suggestion is take yourself and you're vehicle to the dealer and get an experienced sales person to walk you through the whole infotainment system so you can learn the quick fixes tips and tricks. I also have a 12 civic base. And I would love to remind you that the Civic is not hondas best car for luxury or amenities. It's only 1 step up from the fit. Which. Well. Should be factory equip with a rubberized floor because that's carpet is garbage. Every panel in my 12 civic base raddles when the radio is loud or I step on the gas, the CEL occasionally pops on when it's freezing cold and the USB audio rarely ever works but that's okay because I knew the Aux cord could remedy that issue. And I've also owned 2 91 civic DX's and in comparison. The seats suck, the EVERYTHING. Is a POS compared to.... anything not a 1990 economy car. Point is you have like tech issues and random complaints about options that didn't exist 10 years ago in a Civic. The new gen civic is great in many ways. A huge improvement over the 8th and 9th gen civics. Anyways. Who knows. Go to dealer and get these minor issues hashed out.

More tech = more potential issues

I feel like an auto company like Honda has “mastered” engines / transmissions / etc but all of this new tech will take some time

I’m also old school and couldn’t care less about “infotainment” / extras that people don’t actually need
I was having this discussion with someone last week. All the frills and electronics only cause more problems. Sometimes just keeping it simple goes a long way. Those old Civic/Corollas (90s-early 2000s) that are still running have old gauge dials and low tech, but they still run with only routine maintenance.

It seems that the largest percentage of CivicX's having the types of issues that the OP is experiencing with the electronics are the Touring models. Must be something that is corrupting the systems.

(Knock on Wood) my EX-T has been completely issue free for 9,000 miles / 8 months of ownership.

I'm not dismissing the legitimacy of the problems people are facing, but do keep in mind that happy owners would not be starting new threads about how the car is running as expected. Something something vocal minority.

Not sure about that, for me, I get that glitch maybe 1/30 times. And when it happens, I'm literally 2 feet away from the door I just closed.
I have the same issue. It is not the remote as I have swapped between them. Sometimes would happen 3-5 times in a day, then go weeks without fail.

Talked to my dealer, and got the swap remotes/battery/never heard of the issue.

I think I made a good choice with my EX-L. It has most of the frills of the Touring without the problem areas that model seems to suffer with.

Lists a bunch of the worst most unreliable hunks of crap you could buy at the given times and them goes on to say the Civic is the worst car he's ever owned. I doubt this guy has ever owned a paid off car because none of those other heaps made it over 100k miles without major maintenance.

Glad that I too listened to my gut and walet.
I usually opt for the higher trim level but this time not one touring feature appealed to me as a daily run around...save for the led headlights.

My surprise is that the reported touring trim problems seems to cross all civicX variants assembled from the different global plants.
The civic is what it is...like stuffing a suit and tie on a jeans and t-shirt personality.

As someone already posted this guy has owned some of the worst cars ever made.Cavalier, Escort, Avenger, Mustang and Grand Am. All junk. If he thinks those cars were better than the new civic he's in some alternate reality.

Its really too bad to have a bad experience with a car...I for one love my civic, it has its quirks and can argue yeah, its $20k or something, but the main thing (slow back up camera and lanewatch camera at times) doesn't make me feel annoyed....honestly the infotainment center is kinda slow, but I don't focus my time on it much....it would be annoying to buy the top of the line civic and have the most issues with it, I personally was keeping cost lower, so the EXT fit everything I needed.
