I agree with the cold, and how sounds appear our of nowhere but, usually a sound like this indicates something is rubbing or bottoming out. I didn't buy a 2006 Hyundai

Thanks for the documentation. This is a new model (si) first season in cold. Honda hopefully will have a resolution.

The solution is to not subject the car to bitter cold. Mechanical things shrink in severe cold temperatures, so there is more space between them. That space allows movement, which causes the noises being heard. If the source could be found and tightened/adjusted, it would then be too tight and cause binding issues (or worse) once the temperature warms up. Unfortunately, those who are experiencing these noises will likely just have to live with them.

Well said squareback. Design flaw perhaps. I've lived in Canada all my life. Driven many many cars and trucks (work for municipal government in all seasons) just never experienced such sound in a new car in the cold. Makes sense what you said though

I can’t say I’ve been in a car that is in good mechanical shape making these banging noises from the suspension when it gets cold out. While I understand things shrink when it gets cold, Honda should have done more R&D on the si suspension to ensure these issues don’t arise. Previous gen si did not have this problem. It’s embarrassing taking someone in your new car and it sounds like you’re in a car with 200k miles on it with bad sway bar end links.

Adjusted the subframe? Sounds like they filled your blinker fluid too. Is that pic of your car before or after the subframe adjustment?

Now that the temperature where I live has been staying around or below 0 the rear suspension has been clunking over bumps, anyone else have this issue? It goes away when the weather warms up above 10-15 degrees.
Definitely I’ve noticed the suspension clunk as well in the rear. Was thinking about taking it in for an inspection in case something was up because suspension should never clunk like that unless something’s loose right?

For what it's worth... it's been well under 0 degrees F here for a couple of weeks, and the car has sat outside during the day. No clunking at all.

Unless the noise is coming from the adaptive dampers, it shouldn't be any different than the non-Si Civics.

Already getting used to it since it's been so cold for awhile but it's still pretty annoying that it even happens. It's very noticable Everytime I drive .

I'm glad it's something others are having a problem with too ...because at first I thought something was mechanically wrong with the car and that would have made me more mad than hearing the noise

Do you have a coupe by chance? Curious if this issue is specific to sedans.
