Any shops already working on tuning these?

we havent hear something from them...so dont bet on this
I was at PRI with my CTR in a booth. I spoke with every ECU manufacturer there, including Hondata. There is Motec coming out first of the year at $5500. Plug and play. Hondata is still working on getting in but no real news yet. Link ECU has a 1.5T coming in to start with and will work on the 2.0T after that, but they will be doing a race system without factory dash integration most likely.

The M142 GRP- DI is a general purpose race engine management system. It's really "marketed" for serious racers, probably to be used in a homologated race series. Like PWC or IMSA or BTCC WTC blah blah. Etc etc. I'm sure the hondata flash pro will be able to do all the functions most Type R owners want. But it's limiting factor of processing speed would be the factory Bosche ecu. I'm no tuner or pro racer just a grassroots enthusiast but I believe the motec units process faster which results in "a faster car, with more power" or whatever if you're looking for big power. I think the rolling anti lag, anti-lag, launch control and traction control options are what make it great for those on slicks. Many factory abs units enter "ice mode" when you add lots of tire grip. So you can pull abs and still run TC with a motec if you are let's say running high fwhp and want to turn or have ignition cut on gear shift for sequential gear boxes. I guess what I am saying is. The motec the real deal with endless possiblities. And. Flash pro will be more than enough for your track day goer. Weekend racer and daily driver

Looks amazing, but 4500 bucks is out of most people's price range.
With 5K. I can put my car on 12s with a decent trap speed and still have cash left for a nice vacation in a cruise ship with the wife.

Absurd. This is why I never got into the TypeR bandwagon.
The accord 2.0T will probably suffer from the same fate.
Seems that more years are needed and probably nothing feasible will come out for the enthusiasts.

Is hard to accept that the 1.5T is a better turning platform in the long run.

Well to be fair they are the first to come out with a solution, so I bet they feel like they can price it however they want. I don't agree with it, but without competition they basically set the price. Hopefully hondata will come out with a solution and price it more competitively.

But I almost feel like you might be right about the platform. I specifically bought the Type R because the car I had previously had zero tuning support.....and now I feel like I'm reliving that scenario.

If that ends up being the case, it'll be a nightmare for me. I'm cursed when it comes to this. I can't seem to get a car that has tuning support.

Really we just need to calm down and take a breath. I am excited and want some tuning options also for a better price but it may take a little time. Let’s remember the car hasn’t even been out for a year. We can’t rush good R&D.

This car still is amazing without any tuning options. Enjoy it and hopefully soon we will have a cheaper option for tuning.

I agree with everything you said. But being totally honest (and self aware), patience is NOT my strong suit.

hahaha... I have the same problem. I get aggravated that things aren't out yet also then I have to calm myself and remember how long it took for the CTR to arrive to the US. The more R&D the better the product and a lot of shops are just now getting their CTR.
