btw, did you run regular gas only?
Yes, 87 Octane from Marathon only. I know there is better gas than Marathon, but my friend owns the station and it's across the street from my house.

thank you for posting this. was honda oil factory fill? I'm a little confused with such a low moly content if it was. other than that - pretty good #s for amsoil, I'm running same oil in my hatch. with the amount of diltuion/shearing I'd suggest to bump it up to 30wt which I will be doing next oil change. Plus new SS formula is very different in terms of additive pacakage
The sheering on this oil doesn't concern me at all, I'll keep running the recommended weight.

The Honda oil was 2nd oil change. I didn't get an analysis done of my first oil change because the dealer did that one for free. I regret that.

Wear metals should be higher in early samples as part of the break-in process. I imagine you'd continue to see improved performance in your next sample. Just a theory for now...
If it was the very first change I wouldn't pay any attention to wear metals, but the Honda sample was the second oil change.

I'm still a giant fan of AMSOIL. MPG increase, less sheer than Honda, and a noticeably quieter engine.

Yeah, I noticed higher mpg w/ amsoil too.

^ Same. In both 1.5T and 2.0T I saw better mpg after switching from Honda oil.

Alright so I am currently at 1350 Miles, and realized after reading this forum I should check my oil. From what I can tell it looks like it is over the full dot, and it smells like 100% gasoline (which I know is normal for the first oil). I want to keep the oil in for as long as I can since I am just trying to go off the manual which says to keep it for its full life. Should I just leave it or should I try to empty some out? I'm not really sure what to do here.

Also where do I order the kits for the oil analysis. I figured it may not help me much but might give everyone here some more information.

I'd just leave it. Got to trust those engineers who designed the car to have the first oil changed at the recommended time I guess.

Here's the link for the test kit from blackstone labs
https://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php
basically just enter your info to get the kit free in your mail. When you're ready to send in your sample, pay online and send in your sample.

If I were you, i’s either change the oil or drain 1-1.5qt and replace with any 0w20. Or you can get some Honda oil at the dealership (really not required). Driving with overfilled sump is no good

Okay quick question, I cannot for the life of me find where honda said to leave the first oil in for as long as possible. I swear I saw it in the manual but cant find it. Anyone have a link to where it is?

I wouldn't say "as long as possible" but whenever the maintenance minder prompts you to get it changed. I didn't check my oil level before changing it the first time, so I can't say if what you're seeing is "normal" or not for the civics. Unless you just happened to have a car that was overfilled from the factory to begin with, which I think is pretty slim?

Sorry I meant about the first oil change, where it states to leave it in for the full life! And Im sure that my oil over filled because of the fuel dilution, it reeks of gasoline.
