I didn't realize people were this picky about how accurate your air works, I turn my a/c on when its hot and it cools my car and I turn my heat on when its cold and it warms my car to me that is a working system lol

IMO A/C should always be ON even in colder temp. That help reducing mist inside the car.

On my VW, it was always ON when using the Auto Setup and never had mist in it. That's a totally different story in my Civic, back windows are full of mist (even if i'm alone in the car) and the only way to have it go away is to put temperature/vent at maximum setting which is kind of inconfortable.

I understand when on auto, the temp will raise or decrease to maintain the set temp, but on manual it should just stay at the temp its set right?
Rephrase this, because you said the same thing twice.

When the auto button is pushed in,green light on,the temp increases or decreases to MAINTAIN the temp its set. With the auto button off, it should just stay constant at the set temp. If it doesnt work that way, its the stupidest thing I've heard cause then there isn't much difference between auto and turning it off.

Ah --

There's a sort of middle ground (and I think this is dumb, too) where it's still maintaining a set temperature but the green Auto light is off. So, it's automatic even while the Auto indicator is off.

--------
So, basically --

Let's call this "Full Auto": You push the Auto button so it lights up green. You can change the temp with the knob, and it'll stay green. It will adjust the temperature of the airflow, and it will redirect the airflow to the middle or below the dash depending on whether it needs to heat up or cool down the interior. It usually keeps the Fresh/Recirculate flap in Fresh mode, too.

"Semiauto": Same as Full Auto, but you push a button like Fresh/Recirc. The green Auto light turns off. BUT... It'll keep doing everything else automatically, like maintain whatever temperature you choose with the knob, or change whether it blows through the foot vents or through the dash.

"Manual": You use the screen to set everything. That's as close as I can get to my old EP3's climate control.
--------

I haven't used "Manual" since maybe the first week of owning my FK. Now I just dial up the temperature I want, and I tap the Recirc button when I end up behind a bus or truck. I also use the Defrost button, but when it gets hot enough, I tap Auto and it goes into "Full Auto" mode.

* I don't think Defrost lets you choose the temperature like in the old days. I think they decided that it's a specific task, and blowing mild-but-conditioned air like I used to do all day long is no longer an option.

Just a little update for those who have this issue and actually care when your car isn't working right.
Its going to Honda tomorrow morning, just so they couldn't give me the we can't find anything wrong bit, I took some video tonight, at 72, it was coming out at 103 after running for about five minutes, it got to 112 within 15 minutes, so atvthst point I turned it off.
So going by what everyone is saying, it either shouldn't be that hot to begin with, or it shouldnt keep climbing for that long after the car is extremely warm inside or both.

Where do you hold the thermometer? Inside the vent itself, or by your head?

But anyway, yeah, it could be the cabin temperature sensor. It's about $40 at hondaautomotiveparts.com.

So, honda calls after having the car for a while and says that the head unit needs to be replaced.

There's really no "full manual" mode...unless you manually select the intake source, vent mode, fan speed, and set the temperature setting to "LO" or "HI".

Even if you manually select the intake source, vent mode, and fan speed, the system will still modulate the blend doors to maintain the desired temperature setting.

In fact, the blend doors continue operating in an attempt to maintain the last temperature setting even when the system is "off".

The automatic climate control system cannot fully duplicate the functionality of manual climate controls.

"Full auto" mode will use either fresh or recirculated air as necessary for efficiency and safety. It prefers recirculated air in cooling mode as long as the outside temperature is more than a few to several degrees above the temperature setting (it's more efficient to cool recirculated air that is already cooled than to constantly cool hot air from outside the car). It switches to fresh air in heating mode to minimize interior fogging.

I've been having an similar issue with my hatchback.. I set it to max heat in the morning because cold.. When it warms up I have the crank the damn thing below 65 to get it to switch over to cooler (not cold air). I even took it into the shop to have them look at it and I've been told it's "fine"..
