Tire Rack has the following note for this specific tires. If you live in the region where temp can drop below 20 degree F at night, you are taking a risk driving the car the following morning (within 24 hours). How valuable is your life? Is it worth taking the risk? Only you can determine that.
================================================
Your Type-R OEM tires: Continental Sports Contact 6: 245-30R-20

Machines: Hunter Auto 34S Model #TCA34S or Hunter Revolution #TCR 1S

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

We've already determined that Tire Rack copy-pasted a generic warning with those tires and that the info isn't completely correct. Follow the advice given in your owner's manual.

As in the Warning on p596 that use of Summer or UHP tires in temperatures below 45 degrees F may ... result in... or Death!
Reads ... below 45 degrees F is like playing Russian Roulette.

I've noticed the loss in grip too. Full throttle in 1st and 2nd and my traction control light blinks like crazy. It'll even do it a bit in 3rd. It's mostly staying in the 40s here in Alabama.

Is this because of the cold weather, or are you guys getting this behavior also? I want to put the power down, not burn the tires off.
Best Joke of the year on the TypeR community:spaz::spaz::spaz:

And that is nothing add some light rain and there will not be much difference from a frozen road.
My RA that is AWD with Summer tires on the 40s plus light rain it was spinning the four tires like nothing.

My best advice for your own safety because loosing traction means also that your braking ability is affected too. Is to get another set of good performing all weather tires/wheels for the winter in Georgia.

It's not a joke. My car will absolutely not hook in 2nd gear - and it was 60 degrees yesterday.

I'm scratching my head as to what you guys are doing that you're struggling to find traction in moderate weather. You know the tire shine doesn't go on the treads, right? ;) :p

I've never applied tire shine to my car, it only has 400 miles on it. The tires are fresh and clean, and I had been driving it for a while before laying into the throttle.

I don't know what's going on.

60F on a cloudy day gets the tires cold enough to slide. UHP AS tires have best performance for 60-40F.

I just said it because the car was a hair away to become a tractionless nightmare. FWD and high powered from the factory.

This is just part of the deal when you get a high output FWD car with high performance summer tires that will always perform poorer on cold conditions.

Well today I let her eat again.

Settings:

64 degrees
Dry road, concrete
Tires warm, had been on the road for nearly 30 minutes.

I let her eat in 2nd gear, and held traction till I hit all 23psi of boost, and then it just lit the tires on fire. Switched to 3rd, didn't break loose at all.

What mode setting? TC on or off?

So I took a buddy for a ride today. Gave her the beans in 2nd and she HOOKED! Holy shit, I've never actually felt the car hook before. Even with his extra 200 pounds it felt fast.

Now if it could just hook with only me in the car....
