Not only that the 2.0t accord will handle like a boat unlike a si or type r
The type r is the way to go for pure performance and suspension performance, even the type r has way different suspension parts, you could never make a si better then the type r no matter what parts you threw at it to do the undercarriage design . After it’s all said and done even if possible you should have just bought a type r because you would have spent about 10k in perfmance parts and labor. IMO
Of course, but in my case im just using an si to daily drive. A couple of pulls on the highway nothing crazy. And im not for the $600.00 a month payment @MSRP if you can even get it at that price.

Looked at the '18 Accord and sat in one. It really just seems like a Civic w/an stretched wheelbase for a bit more rear legroom and trunk space. Given you can snag an SI for about 23k w/o much effort... I can see people going all out for a high trim Accord, but it doesn't seem like such a bargain for a lower trim 1.5t sport w/a manual. You'd get a lot more car for the money sticking w/the SI.

As to going with a type R, I've never followed or been interested in a type R so it coming to the US was a non-event for me. I'd not the type of person who's spend roughly double for a performance model over what a base model starts at. I can drive an SI and want for a bit more power and get it with a tune for under 1k. With an R, it's be a waste for me to drive a car like that on the street. If they made an SI in a hatch, I would have been quick to get one.

As to swapping heads had it had vtec, it's just an option. I've pulled a head from a car in a junkyard early in the morning and had it on a car w/it running by lunchtime for a hundred bucks. It's not something I'd do now w/my new car, but years down the road, as the junkyards filled w/1.5 10 gen accords, it would have been an interesting and inexpensive mod to have as a possibility. Vtec is probably pretty moot w/a FI car. I thought it might help gain some top end that the 1.5s lack and is one of the only criticisms I have between it and the 2.0/2.4 k series motors, which I assume is because of the turbo selected.

...anyway, I don't mean to be down on a type R, it's an amazing machine. I'd never get one..if given one, I'd sell it and get an SI and pocket the difference. It'd be a waste for me to own one. For a die-hard fan or a weekend warrior who would track it, it's obviously the superior car.

Funny my interest rate is at 2.49 for 72 months . With 15k down it' at 300
I guess I could put 15 down on a Si and have a 150 payment but I want the best of the best . I am done cannibalizing vehicles with different parts. Are you suggesting I do that and while I am at it buy a type r badge for a si?
I put 500 down for a deposit so I can get a type r at msrp

I felt the same way about accords and civics 10 years ago. Now after test driving and owning an accord I'll just buy a good Used BMW if I had the choice. Vs a new accord. A accord will never match the performance or luxury feel of a BMW or even a Acura

Funny, I didnt ask for any of that information. But I dont have 15,000 to put down on a finance. And if i did I wont do that anyway, id put that money towards an amg c63. Here in NY your not getting a typr R for msrp.

I agree with you 100% on that input of the type R. But Mr. Csig is happy with his 15,000 down finance. Congrats on your purchase.

Some people like go fast and some people like to go really fast.
Btw did you know your transmission is made in India ?
Tranny on the type r is japan,

Either way when I get my type r I will never look back that I should have bought an si.. I will always look at the si when I pass him on the street with a big smile on my face.

That big smile will turn into a frown when you find out the Si you were trying to pass has the big turbo kit from Prl.;) You’ll be looking the the Si alright, you’ll see it’s tail lights.

Very true. I really wish I could have found a manual TL Sh-AWD when I was looking last year but it just wasn't to be. I usually only have vehicles for 2-4 years... so we'll see what the next will be. For what I got for my '15 in trade, it came out to leasing it for 0 down and 200/month. I can probably just keep doing that forever. I've never scratched the BMW itch. I wanted a 335i for a long time, but I never pulled the trigger on one and sort of just lost interest over the years.

A good driver can easily turn his smile upside down ;)

My smile will come back on my face when i pass them on the side of the road due to a blown head gasket or broke valve

When you become an engineer and can proof it ill believe that. Leave that to the experts. I must part ways now and get back to work. Peace and Love

been driving a 6 speed for over 15 years
better get your car tuned as soon as you can because a si is like speed limited to around 125mph , on top of that you have no downforce so anything past 85mph your car will be too dangerous since any crosswind will push you into the next lane even in sport mode. On top of that you might want to change out your toothpick rear sway bar asap before spending 5k on a turbo+labor

So much for this thread...

So to sum up, 1.5t in the Accord will not have Vtec, contrary to some early claims. Got it. No chance in any performance to be had by a head swap.
