Well there will be more in the published article, or course - the web content is just a teaser for the magazine.

Still, the writers said enough to make it clear they found the TT RS to be a considerably more boring drive than the CTR. When you take into account the relative cost of the two cars, and the fact that Audi has been labouring for many years to turn the TT S and TT RS into true sportscars, I'd say Honda's accomplishment was impressive. Not perfect though - they do complain a bit about inert steering, and a "wheezy" engine note.
I did a pdi on a tt rs last week, it was a fun drive but i agree the type r is more fun in my book, maybe cause its stick

FWIW, here's the full image of the track notes. Not much mention of the CTR, but I'm posting it because the image came across cropped when I viewed the page.

BTW, I would still drop my career and go write for R&T if given the opportunity. Although the tone is a little more modern than when I started reading it forty years ago, these guys still know what they're doing.

Adding Jack Baruth recently to their writing stable certainly didn't hurt - he's capable of a very creative turn of phrase. The R&T editors seem to have toned down the excesses seen in his TTAC pieces (or perhaps he's restrained himself to better suit R&T's broader audience).

He won't be as epic as Henry Manney was, but then again, who is?

It's doesn't do the CTR justice to compare it and run it up against V8's on the track, or anyplace as a matter of fact. There are other car manufactures out there that has a sporty 4 cylinder trim. That's where it all needs to be compared to. Now if the CTR was a V6 sporting 500 ponies, then yes I say compare it.

Theres no shame in losing to the McLaren & Camaro.

Was surprised and impressed the CTR beat the Quadrofoglio (and without the Alfa's reliability taken into account no less). Dissapointed it lost out to the lexus w regards to lap times.

Interesting also to read how polarizing the manual transmission has become for the 911. I think that is testament to how well the pdk is executed throughout the years.

Haha. To be fair, that's only 0.12s difference, which is pretty much negligible.

True true.
Your best bet is try to find one north of 40°N, show up on the snowiest day, and offer to take delivery immediately!... might be the best shot if you can't get with an MSRP dealer!

Won't work.

My CTR is the only one in town, the other 2 my local dealership got sold to people in CA before they arrived.

Mildly amusing that my CTR is more rare here in town than Lambos

The garden variety civic hatch (CVT is faster due to no variance) can sprint to 60 in mid 6 so how much value can the civic type r provide, it's not like the delta or rift is grandiose between the garden snake LX and the halo T. Even the delta of the produce dept garden variety hatch lx suspension is within .2 or 20% of the type R. I say if you do not enjoy being loud everywhere you go, the basic civic is all you need. I'm glad Honda has a halo car though but 40 grand + ADM is just making the dealer fat cats, well, FAT. think, GARFIELD eating lasagnas all day waddling slowly at the dealers executive style rooms.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this comparo, its lineup, and the results for CTR.

To me, what's truly impressive is not one or two particular reviews, but the fact that just about every single magazine and YouTube car channel reviews all sing praises of CTR in every respect. In fact, the only complaints you hear about are (i) its appearance, (ii) ADM, (iii) lack of a volume knob, and (iv) exhaust sound. Yeah, almost all subjective stuff. They always point to the fact that it is FWD, but no one complains about the typical problems of the FWD setup, like torque steer, understeer, lack of traction, etc.

This uniformity and consistency of impressing seasoned reviewers (and making them almost gleeful) are what I have noticed.

Definitely agree with you there on the consistency of the praise the car has gotten. Personally I love the looks, paid msrp, use the steering wheel volume button. The exhaust seems to be getting louder now that i have 1000 miles on it. But it’s mainly my drive to work car so not being annoying is more important than having a loud exhaust.

Toyota sienna van 0-60 is like 6.9.. only .5 from a civic right? Maybe we should just buy that.. faster right? Practically the same as a type r.. its a hot hatch. Your logic on garden salads are annoying
