I was getting into my car yesterday and noticed this on the ground by the door:
Honda Civic 10th gen Only three days old and my car is already falling apart civic%20part%20front_zpscxqzcgve
and
Honda Civic 10th gen Only three days old and my car is already falling apart civic%20part_zpsx5uauyad

I can't figure where it came from. Do any of you who meticulously go over every square inch of the car have any idea?

It's a relatively fine texture finish, much like by the interior door handles, not coarse like most of the other trim.

TIA

No size reference slows me down. Beyond that, my first thought is something from a wheel well. i also wonder if it's one of these: http://hondapartsnetwork.com/part/9...A-Left-Rear-Door-Quarter-Garnish-Inner-NH900L. I'd take the part and go ask the dealer to figure it out.

Oh yeah, size comparison. Say, about 2 or 3 inches.

It looks like an interior piece, not exterior, so I figure it was on the door or it got dragged out with my grocery bag. I looked on the door and couldn't find anything similar on the other side, front or rear.

My bet--from very little information and a quick look in a very few areas of the parts catalog that seem suspicious--is still on that rear door garnish, one side or the other. You will probably have to get on the floor and compare one side to the other of that lower outside corner of the door to see if something looks different from one side to the other. The parts diagram is not very clear on exactly where this thing goes.

Looking at the figure again, I'm also wondering if this is upper corner, not lower corner, of the inner door trim. As I said, sounds like a test for a good dealer. (A bad dealer will say "Not a part of the car" and chuck your part in the trash before you argue.)

There are over 100 parts in the '16 Civic catalog with Garnish in the name. Sigh. No markings on the part?

I'll get back to you on that later...(read: you really don't need to go through the whole parts catalog. Just give me the URL :)

We have a winner!

Yeah, it looked like a door trim part because of the texture, but it never occurred to me to look at the upper corner of the window by the B pillar.

I owe you a drink the next time you're in Silicon Valley.

Does yours come off easily when you bump against it too? I've tried pushing it in harder because it looks like it's suppose to snap in but it's still loose and can easily be knocked out again... Superglue?

Take it back to the dealer there may be a clip on it that is broken off and that is why it is not secure. They will replace it under warranty.

Now that you point it out, I looked and with just a little wiggling, it came loose again.

I noticed that there's a curl of plastic that got scraped down as the thing was being put in the mounting hole. That prevented one of the barbs from catching, so I scraped it off and the piece is holding in much better.

I wouldn't recommend superglue, maybe something designed for automotive use like 3M Fastack (trim adhesive)

Or you can do that. Since it would be a pain to find and order (and wait for) the right part, I bet the dealer would just use adhesive to get you on your way in five minutes.

They typically replace parts because the warranty pays and they get a cut. But, you are right, they'd have to order. Or order your own and have it delivered. They are cheap.
