I found the car this morning with the trunk wide open and all 4 windows open about 1 inch. I am not sure if the sunroof was open, if it was I couldn't tell but I pushed the close button to make sure. I was kind of scrambling because it was raining... I called the dealership and they said I probably pressed some buttons on the fob while in my pocket. I tried the press unlock once and then hold unlock, but it behaves differently - it rolls the windows ALL the way down and does not open the trunk. I definitely did not leave the windows open, but it is possible I left the trunk open because the night before I unloaded a bulky item that I had to use both hands for. Anyone else heard of this or know what this could be?? It rains a lot here so I'm pretty worried about it! Will definitely not be keeping the key in my pocket anymore...

I only know of two situations which would cause the windows to roll down like that: 1) on some cars that don't have a full frame built in to the door (convertibles for example) the windows will sometimes lower a bit right before the battery dies to allow the door to be opened, and 2) you pressed the unlock button accidentally and the operation got stopped before completion, either from another button getting pressed or some other interference. I can't imagine any defect in the car that would cause all four windows to inch down like that completely on their own.

Is it possible that while in your pocket, buttons got pressed twice, at two different times? Once to release the trunk. And another time, long enough to unlock the doors and start rolling down the windows, but not long enough to roll the windows down all the way?

I keep mine in a little leather key fob holder to prevent accidental button presses.
