So, a few weeks ago I was rear ended and pushed into a semi truck in front of me. The man who hit me feel asleep at the wheel, woke up just before he hit me and slammed on his breaks. Haven't posted here because I've been pretty bummed about it. Here are the pics after it happened.

It has been in the body shop for a while and I've been driving around in this crappy rental Jeep Compass.

Here are pics of it's current condition in the body shop:

Thank you for this thread. Lost an old car to a rear-end by an SUV last year and the 2016 Civic Touring Sedan I got to replace it was hit a couple weeks ago in a much larger crash the insurance company took a long time to investigate. I was thinking today that I absolutely need both front and rear cameras on my next car.

My car is still being appraised for damage, btw, even though they say it looks like a total loss. I would not feel safe driving it, if they say they'll try to repair it. The 2016 redesign was made to soften all around the body to distribute the force of a rear or front impact away from the passenger cabin.

I've been studying up to make sure I'm conversant and know my rights. I recommend anyone else reading this to do the same.

I wonder if it would help reduce this type of accident if you put a big sign "BABY on Board" in the rear window.

Best of luck to you with the expenses. Hopefully the driver at fault gets a penalty good enough to stop any further sleeping at the wheel.

Though I don't have a Type R (thought about it!) my '17 Sport Hatch had a fight with plywood that was scattered on the road and it took out the front bumper cover, with about 1400 miles on it. Though it's not a dream car, it still made me sick. And I wasn't sure they'd be able to match the Sonic Grey Pearl paint that I went 500 miles away to get.

The body shop promised it'd be perfect and they lived up to it. Can't tell it ever happened. I am sure yours will be the same.

If I did go for a Type R, it'd be Championship White...that's a beauty!

Can you let me know which bodyshop you went? May pay a visit to do the repaint on the bumper

Update: Was told today when I stopped by the was to structural damage. They have replace the condenser and welded the front bumper support. The welds look excellent. Still waiting on some parts.

Probably not when someone falls asleep.
They can't. That's why body shops paint over ("blend into") adjacent panels to make it less obvious.

Once wrecked - always wrecked.
We'll see. They say they can and won't have to blend.

I'll definitely get you the info when I stop by again. I'll post a pic of their business card.

Not to get too far off topic...but it's for the drivers like the one that hit you that really validate the inclusion of sensing tech!
