Norm Reeves in West Covina, CA has a red type r for sale and to qualify you have to had bought a car from them before LOL. I asked the sales guy how much they are asking for the car and he said msrp plus accessories which adds up to 43k plus tax and fees

I received a email and a call to purchase the Type R from Norm Reeves West Covina. The car is only to be sold to a loyal customer. I was offered the Type R at MSRP last night due to customer loyalty and am tossing the idea around but I think I will pass for numerous reasons. I have to give the dealership credit for the offer and the sticker because months ago I was told it be a 5k mark up.

It seems like all Norm Reeves Honda dealers have a 5k markup plus the 7-8k in accessories. I think it's a standard contract that they all follow, except in your situation where they were able to offer the car for msrp due to loyalty. I would try to make a deal with them but I prefer polish metal metallic over any of the other colors.

One dealership to stay away from is New Century Honda in Glendale,CA. Those guys are the biggest ripoffs. When you speak to the internet sales guy he always says they are taking offers and their current offer is at 48k and is obviously trying to indicate they want more than 48k.
Yeah f*** them. That's the dealer ship that turned away my 47k otd offer when I showed up there in person ready to buy lol. The sales manager was dead set on 54k otd. Telling me i'll never find one for that price currently.

They called me back a week after I bought my car and said they'd like for me to come in. I told the sales manager nope I bought a car that you told me I'd never find for that price and to remove me from the list cause I don't want to ever do business with them

Hey guys been lurking for a while now trying to search for a fk8 of my own no luck and just wanted to contribute to the thread. El Monte Honda offered me this last week.

I thought the 10k markup days are over. What a lot of dealerships are doing now is asking 5k above msrp plus the added 7k-10k in accessories that way the consumer doesn't feel too bad paying over because they are getting accessories. The only dealership in California that sells their type r's at exact msrp is Honda of Thousand Oaks. Apparently they honor their waiting list and the cars are sold as soon as they arrive.

I'm on the list at Thousand Oaks, and it's true, they are the only true MSRP dealer in California.

Honda Civic 10th gen Honda Civic Type-R Over sticker dealer naughty list. Screen Shot 2017-09-10 at 2.16.50 PM

I have had a few laughs during all this…

Someone told me they were "just not able" to go as low as $40K. Oh the struggle to charge as little as $5K over sticker. You must have a low doc fee.

When I mentioned to Folsom Lake, CA that I was inquiring from out of state looking for a Type R close to MSRP, they said I should try Honda Alaska. I did after saying I would like the road trip to help me break in the engine on my new car. He then offered me an Si. I should have told him I'd try Canada first because then I'd get good headlights.

I typically don't respond to 10K ADM price quotes, which lead to emails like these:

Day 1: Currently we do not have a Type R on our lot. We are expecting a gray one within the next four to eight weeks. Our dealer has a $10,000 above sticker markup. Please let me know if you would like me to contact you in the vehicle is available.

Day 3: I just wanted to make sure you were able to read our price quote and that I did answer your questions. It is really important to me and our dealership that I appropriately assist you with your vehicle questions.

Day 4: Have you had a moment to view the information that I sent your way? If you did not receive any information please let me know and I will be sure to re-send it immediately.

No, kind sir, please do not resend me your offer of 10K ADM. I drive a Civic. Have a nice day.

El Paso quoted me $51,999 earlier this week and said they sold another one around that price range. To whom? Tuco Salamanca?

The best one, though, was this:

"I received your internet purchase request on our 2017 Honda Civic Type R. Unfortunately the Type R is no longer available. We can still get you a Civic EX Hatchback, add the Type R spoiler and also add red leather and it will look exactly like a Type R. The price point on that is $25,675.00. That's a $9,100.00 difference.

I understand this option isn't for everyone, but just wanted to let you know that is available. Is the Type R the only vehicle you were interested in?"

That was so cute. Like a little puppy.

How long is that wait list?
It's a very long list. When they received their first allocation I was the 48th person on the waiting list. They already received both their CTR's for the year. Also, their waiting list rolls over to 2018. The contact person was explaining to me how their waiting list works. What they do is once they receive vin# info on their ctr they contact the 1st person on the list and give them 2 hours to respond if they don't hear from them they move on to the next person on the list. Their first ctr was sold to the first person on the list and their 2nd ctr was sold to the 4th person on their waiting list. Honda of Thousand Oak is definitely a true, honorable and reputable dealership unlike other dealerships and their bullshit. For example Norm Reeves saying the car will be sold at msrp but with an additional 8k in paint and protection. Lol I rather just pay the 5k in adm than the paint and protection. This car is not worth more than 5k above msrp.

Very long waiting list indeed. I'm in the top 10, and I know that my chances are close to nil.

I'm number one somewhere else, but it looks like I will be getting a 2018.

I had a deposit at Folsom Lake for a CW coming for 5K over. I ended up getting it earlier at another dealer and got my deposit back. Not sure who you had to deal with but my contact there was straight forward and pleasant to deal with.

Economy Honda in Chattanooga, TN just got their 2nd Red in this week but go figure their second one is also listed at $10,000 over MSRP.

I tried to purchase their first one before finding out it was going to be over MSRP and they wouldn't take my money nor talk to me like I was a serious buyer. Needless to say I couldn't recommend them which sucks as I live 2 minutes from them but thankfully Honda of Cleveland that's just 20 minutes down the road took care of me at MSRP on mine.

Still 191 Civic Type R's listed for sale on Cars.com, the number fluctuates but not by more than 10-20 cars week to week. One dealer I talked to in Charlotte, NC claimed they had already received 4 units with another 4 units expected by the end of the year. So dealers that are saying they are not getting any more for the next 3 1/2 months is surprising to me. Either they are a small dealership, or they are lying.
