So it just suddenly started pouring here in Las Vegas (typical) and I almost lost control of the car twice on the highway!!

I was going probably 40mph and accelerated a little bit and then thebtraction control went off (or whatever the blinking yellow lights were) and the car started swerving a little. This happened at least two times...so the question is, are these tires to blame? Or do you think I unluckily slipped in some oil slicks from the rain?
Are these the Hankooks Kinergys cause they rock.

Are you talking about the g-force Sport Comp 2 tires? If so, my personal experience of those is very disappointing. Lasted maybe 20k miles on my EJ until they were worn just about bald. And BF Goodrich didn't include a treadwear warranty like I was told upon the time of purchase....

They were great tires while they lasted!! I'll give them that.
Yes the g-force Sport Comp 2 A/S version, not the Summer ones. Although I'm now waffling on those or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. Also deciding on whether I want to replace the factory wheels too.

Spent year in Cali (San Jose - Sunnyvale) and the first rain or light sprinkle after the months-long dry spells was exactly like driving on ice, even with tires having great wet traction. You're not hydroplaning - you're skating!

My all seasons are good in the rain. haven't had any loss of traction and drive it just has hard as i do when it's dry. That being said, i always get the tcs light in 1st, 2nd, sometimes 3rd, gear pulls, no matter the weather

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was the oil slick and not the tires. It started pouring that night which doesn't happen too frequently here in Vegas (though when it does rain, usually rains a lot).

Can confirm stock tires are garbage. Bought BFGoodRich Comp2 A/S UHP All Seasons. They have 11k miles on them now and still look fresh. Have been very happy with them.

LOL...If you're having problems driving a Civic in the rain, definitely, DEFINITELY, DO NOT EVER attempt to drive a Ford Lightning in the rain with the stock tires because you are not going to make it very far before you crash through a telephone pole! I would have to say this Civic SI with the stock tires performs the best in the rain out of any vehicle I've owned to date.... But I've only had high horsepower RWD vehicles beforehand so the SI is a kitten in the rain compared to what I'm used to...

Confirmed, stock AS tires are terrible. I've lost traction too many times on turns that I would think would be fine on a decent summer tire.

Thinking about the new Conti ExtremeContact Sports, they had great reviews, of course a bit behind the new Michelin PS 4S's(doesn't come in 235 yet) in the dry, but seem to be a good bit better in the wet and equal or a little better at braking, $155 a pop on tirerack right now for 235/40/18.

No issues with the all-season Goodyears, plenty of rain instances in Michigan this summer. Was actually quite impressed with the traction and drive in the wet.
