ADM days are going to be gone soon. Took a look at the inventory and about 1/3 of the dealerships near me have one on the lot. Over half the dealerships have 1-2 in transit. Wouldn't be surprised if they start selling below msrp by year end.
I doubt it'll go under MSRP at the end of this year. Alot of the dealerships that still has one is asking like 10-15k+. If they ask for like 2k, i'm sure it would be gone. Maybe by mid - end of next year if they keep pushing units out it'll go MSRP.
I also don't believe it'll NEVER go below MSRP if they keep pushing units out. People were saying the same thing about the Focus RS when it first came out and look at where it is now. I don't believe it'll go way under MSRP but it may go a little bit below. Just all depends how many units they decide to push out.

I'm thinking by end of this year or early next year, ADM may go down to ~MSRP to $5k...definitely $10k ADM days are fading away.

Cars.com lists nearly 200 Civic Type R models on dealer lots. All the ADM sure has built up supply. I think demand is there, just not over MSRP, many people are like myself and are waiting for the "seller's market" to diminish. If this car was really that hot and waiting lists with over a dozen people long, there would not be 200 cars available for sale, particularly if it wasn't for the ADM.

I agree that days of 10k+ ADM are fading, but there will still be ADM around. You'll see that more so especially in California where there is a high interest in the CTR. CTR will only hit MSRP or under if you see all dealerships around you with 5 or more CTRs. Honda is ramping up production for 2018 but I still don't think you're going to see 5+ CTRs sitting on a dealership lot. With more people picking up CTRs for the MY2017, it will also gather interest to people who aren't following the Type R that see them out on the street. Those people will add to the demand of the CTR to hold ADM to around 2-5k.

FAIRFAX HONDA has a CW in the showroom. Sticker says $45,000.

The sales team are a bunch of a-holes there, but the service department is spot on.

Yep, seems like the buyers in CA are totally screwed, the CA dealers will be the last ones to give up ADM. When CA has no ADM, the rest of the US will be selling at $500 over invoice, LOL. Those potential buyers just need to purchase out of state and let the CA dealers cry about not selling their cars for $10k over MSRP.

Three months ago when the Si was released, I had to drive 9 hours and pay full MSRP for my color choice. Three months later, there are an average of 3 Si per dealer and it doesn't take much effort to find the color you want for less than MSRP.

Of course, there are far fewer Type R being made than Si, but there are also fewer shoppers for the Type R than the Si. While dealers are still asking almost as much for Type R as they were a couple of months ago, there aren't as many buyers paying as much ADM. I've also been watching the number of Type R being listed on Cars.com increase from single digits after launch to dozens and now the number is nearing 200 (which is probably low since not all dealers list their inventory on Cars.com and those that do may choose not to list the Type R for now. The end of the 2017 model year is near. The peak of the media hype has passed. Some shoppers who expected or hoped the Type R would be more economical and practical as a daily driver may be disappointed by the cost of tires and potential damage to wheels and ended up purchasing something else or nothing at all.

Based on these observations, evidence suggests that the Type R should be available much closer to if not at MSRP within the next few months as the market reaches equilibrium.

this is what happens to most hot "niche" cars. Demand is there but dealers get greedy, loses sales. Manufacturer is like noones buying these so we're discontinuing them. Rinse and repeat every few years or nearly 20 years in Hondas case.
