The guy that did mine said 35% is the most you can get. He refused to do anything darker.... BUT to be honest. it is perfect. at night it could get difficult to see. I did 35% all around. No front. I wish the front was darker. He offered a strip at the front window but I don't like the look of it... so I stayed away from that.

Isn't anything below 70% illegal at the front for 2017 cars in Ontario?
How it was explained to me:

MTO states we can't go below 70%

Law states can't go below 35%

To me it makes no sense BUT if you go to sell your car, if the tint is under (darker) than 70% then it won't pass a safety.

My info may not be 100% accurate. However I wouldn't worry too much about it. My last 2 vehicles had 15% all around and not once did I get pulled over for it.

Vehicle inspection is 70% I think the hta states if in the opinion of the officer it's too dark you can get a ticket. To prove your innocence in court you have to do a vehicle inspection where the 70% rule comes in play.

My ex wife's side of the family had a person who was a cop, I asked him one day if he would pull me over for my 15% tint. His answer was "holy crap that is dark, but we have more important things to worry about other than a piece of film over a side window of a car"

I guess that makes sense and is why I never have been hassled about it.

My friend thinks ANY level of tint is dangerous. I can understand that at times yes 15% does hinder my vision a bit at night, but 35% doesn't at all. I actually don't have tint at all on my civic but wouldn't mind 25-35%. The only way I'll get tint done is if it's the ceramic kind though.

The rule for the tint came into force because bikers were not be able to make eye contact with drivers. If 35% was good for night driving I should have gotten it oh well.

AUTO links. $400 plus HST.

Second job done and very pleased, though I spent double compared to my friends I just don't trust the places they went to. I know this is debatable but they also just TUCKED the tint in compared to REMOVING the PANELS/SPOILER.
How long did it take?
Did you get it done on a weekend?

Scheduled for coming Saturday to get my tints at S Class in Brampton - quite good reviews. Planning on going 35% front/side, 20% rear.

Still debating if I should get 35% in front vs none. I like to have consistent look to have all windows tinted, but want to make sure driving at night is not an issue with 35% in front side windows. Have a week to decide... any thoughts?

35% is fine for front side windows.
At night, everyone has headlights on anyways so you'll see cars for sure.
You just have to be really careful at intersections because of pedestrians.

Thanks for the input!
I drove a friend's car with 35% tints on front side windows, a little challenging driving at night in poorly lit areas especially clearly seeing pedestrians. Decided to go no darker than 50-60% in front, 20% rear. Don't want to chase style and hit a pedestrian - Safety always trumps style/looks IMO.

Exactly my thinking on keeping fronts stock

If anyone is okay going to Barrie there is a place called DDF auto that does all 5 windows for $185 with no air bubbles.
Sick. I'm up by Midland. I'll check them out, thanks.

For anyone else in North Simcoe area, Huronia Auto Glass didn't give me full confidence when I checked out their shop. I went in for a quote and said somewhere under $300 for front, windshield strips top and bottom, and back. But they didn't disclose anything about the warranty nor did they offer me what kinds of tint they used. It was like they only settled on just the one they use on everyone. However, it perhaps could be just the fact that they only deal with pickups since I only saw pickups in their lot.
