Cool!

But what's up with the interior? The steering wheel looks like a car that was in a fire.

Canada gets MSRP and a toy car

US gets ADM and a middle finger
Well, most of Canada. Alberta and, to a lesser extent, British Columbia, often have some silliness.

Central Canada is MSRP, no doc fee, no admin fee, no mandatory dealer-installed BS, and quite often some kind of discount on accessories/extended warranty.

On the other hand, I suspect that one would be able to get a discount off MSRP in much of Atlantic Canada and rural Quebec.

However, keep in mind that we actually pay more, relatively, for the Type R. The Type R costs the same as the Golf R here.

Depends on province because sales tax varies. At today's exchange, I paid $37,750USD including MSRP, freight+PDI, sales taxes, and gov't fees, but not including license plates.

Oh yeah, I didn't get a toy car.

Except those who live in tax free state , your OTD is less than pretty much all of us.

... which is why I said "relative" in the previous post. Exchange rates show the cost of goods; what they don't show is relative income. For example, let's say the median income of a Type R purchaser in the USA is $125kUS annually. In Canada, let's say that same median person doing the same work, same experience, etc., makes $90kUSD. Income taxes are usually lower in the USA, but health insurance is usually much more expensive, so let's leave that a wash for argument's sake. The American would spend 30% of his/her income on the ($38k) Type R; the Canadian would spend over 40%. The Type R 'costs' the Canadian quite a bit more. Those are example numbers, but they're pretty reasonable for white-collar occupations with those median incomes. That's why I said Canadians pay more, relatively. Mind you, once ADM is factored in, then perhaps people in both countries are paying similar amounts ...

^ The income disparity mentioned above varies a lot by trade and profession. For example, teachers and academics in Canada are generally better compensated (allowing for exchange rates) than their US counterparts. There are exceptions of course - for example US Ivy League faculty are very highly paid.
