I requested there to be no front license plate bracket installed as well as no detail. The GM stated, they would not attach a bracket and would not be detailing the car, and they would bring the car into the lane as soon as it arrives. He attached he service rep and the dispatcher in his reply. Hopefully they actually listen

The 8th gen civic had a holder that mounted to threaded inserts in the lower grille. There were no holes in the bumper itself. My 2009 Si never had a front license plate installed.

Getting my type R Saturday. I've asked dealer to not install front plate holder. Are there any options available. From what I can see there is no tow hook spot.

This is how it has been on my last two Si (2005 & 2008). A frame that mounts inside the grill where you can't see it. I would hope it will be the same on the Type-R. I doubt Honda would regress back to putting holes in the bumper unless the front end design dictated it had to be that way for some reason.

Sadly you have to drill the bumper to install the plate. There are two small indentations in the front bumper (drill guides) for the installation. Some dealers are putting them on, some aren't. My local dealer had the front bracket installed on the R they had.

Oh, that's disappointing. In Colorado the law is that you have a front plate, but I haven't had one on any of my cars for 18 years. I will have to make sure the dealer doesn't drill it on the Type-R.

I bought the Password JDM license plate relocator which looks really good and only had to cut the black piece (no plates yet unfortunately). But it was a b**** to install! I finally got it but there might be an easier way than using the hardware that comes with it.

I think that's the best option if you HAVE to have one. I live in a front plate state, but the only time I've ever had any issues with it was when parked downtown. Therefore, none of my cars have ever had a front plate.

Definitely was happy when I first saw that they hadn't put a front plate on my Type R especially in a front plate mandatory state

My dealer drilled holes in mines bumper /: Since it's there I figure I might as well use it.

When we went to purchase our 2017 CR-V, the dealer installed their front plate (also sheet metal screws through the front bumper), even though I told them 5 times on the phone and in email, not to do it. I walked away from that dealership and purchased out of state to get the color I wanted a few days later. Ended up saving me another $750 so even though I needed to go out of state, it was beneficial for me to do so.

When I write the check for my CTR in the Spring (hopefully), I will request that the dealer not touch the car after it rolls off the truck. I don't want some low paid employee scratching anything on the car, I will remove all the plastic, I will wash the car myself. All I tell the dealer they can do, is what is required in the PDI, check fluids and safety items only. I did the same with the last three cars I purchased new from Honda dealerships.
