Hi everyone,

Just got this email notice today regarding a recall notice from my dealership. Just purchased my 16 civic touring 2 days ago and got this email notice from them.

Maintainance Services:
First Service Appointment
Recall Services: Mfr Campaign/Safety Recall Notice:16-001 - AUDIO AMP PROGRAMMING

Do we have an issue with audio services with the amp?!

Yes, this has been well documented elsewhere on these forums. You can get low or no audio and other glitchy issues. It's a simple update, though unfortunately you will have to bring it in, they won't let you do software updates yourself.

sign of the times. our work ethic is in the dumpster. how can a new car leave the lot with a recall pending. should be a law. any recall.

At least your dealer's told you. Mine has not, and I've even been into my dealer with issues of glitches, including Pandora not having sound, and they've yet to tell me this patch is out (and yes, my VIN qualifies, per Honda Corporate). I'm waiting patiently at this point, as I typically have not had audio issues (but have had a bunch of other glitches not covered in this fix). But still, at least your dealer told you.

There is a law. That's why there's a Stop Sale on the snap ring issue affected 2.0L Civics. 16-001 is not a Recall. Recall is a specific thing in the US with all manner of regulatory requirements for safety issues. This is a TSB for a customer satisfaction issue.

But it is an interesting question why the dealer didn't do the TSB.

Your dealer is likely just slow to react, disorganized, or both. They register the application of the TSB against your VIN and when applied Honda pays them for doing the work, so I can't imagine they would willfully not apply it before delivery.
