5 wt will be thicker cold but it won't be any better when it gets hot.
ALL I was saying with this was that the person I was replying to said that he wouldn't change oil weights from what was supposed to be in it but stated that he had a different oil in his b series than what the manufacturer recommended.

Ahh, I get your point. Heck my daily has a different oil weight. The difference being I'm guessing is that I made the switch in a more scientific way.

I will say this for a dd with limited spirited driving I don't see oil temp getting too far from operating temp and factory oil should be good enough for 90% of people. The problem is that 10% are on forums who see other people changing weight then misinformation gets spread and next thing you know, they believe that lightweight oil won't protect their engine.

The oil will protect your engine, don't get me wrong. But I work at a honda dealer and I have just seen too much stuff to want to use it in my engine. Everyone else is free to do what they feel is necessary.

I may be wrong, but I think the type 2.0 oil is the first Honda 0w20 oil for the U.K. Market.

I'm gussing all the other Honda's didn't specify 0w20?
AFAIK, 0w-20 is recommended in all gasoline Hondas, but not specifically Type 2.0.
For the diesel Civics, Honda recommends 0W-30.
So, I wonder why Honda mentions the "Type 2.0" for the FK2R.

Maybe it's a market dependent thing. Maybe UK oils have different specifications?

For the US FK8R, the manual recommends any 0W-20.

I can see now that the 'regular' Honda 0W-20 oil is the green Hybrid Honda oil, part number 08232-P99S4LHE.
"Type 2.0" is 08232-P99K1LHE.

I just read all the 11 pages & I don’t see yet a single picture about the oil change already performed as DIY.
what pictures are you interested in? there's a separate tread dedicated to oil change with some pictures. pretty straight forward

did anyone else notice that it uses 0w20 oil. i am not sure how i feel about that being a higher performance car. think i might switch to 5w20 after break in.
No, please do not do that. All Honda dealers switched over to full syn HGMO 0w-20 and I would say extend the break-in because all of the assembly lube from FF will not drain out so you have a 2nd opportunity to extend the break-in but with fresh oil and without the fuel. And you want more moly and calcium and Boron in it.
