I've not much interest in pairing my phone with this car. I got the touring because I wanted leather, and in Canada, its all or nothing if you want leather. Couldn't really care less about all this computer mumbo jumbo - no I'm not old, just old fashioned I guess.

Anyway. Less than a week in with bluetooth turned off in the settings and the cars touch screen is constantly prompting me, to tell me that bluetooth is off and asking me if I want to turn bluetooth on yes or no. This happens on every single trip. It shows up shortly after the driver safe operation of equipment message that also happens every startup (but at least that one goes away on its own after a short time if I ignore it). I think to myself, if I wanted bluetooth on why would I have turned it off in the first place?! Anyway, this screen won't go away until you answer the question it seems.

So I cave after a day or two. Fine, yes, I'll turn bluetooth on. Whatever, just shut up about it already.

Next thing I know, the car is prompting me again. Telling me that there is no phone paired with the system, would you like to pair a phone now yes or no? Now this screen is happening on each and every trip instead........

Hopefully they will fix this in a future software update for the touch screen system... I realize its a minor thing and that they simply assume everybody will happily pair a phone the car - but it shouldn't seem as if its trying to force you to if you are not interested in the feature.

Interesting. I imagine Honda just assumed everyone would want to pair a phone as that data connection is tied into so many things, including the HondaLink support (which in theory, is a safety thing in case you are in a crash - Honda will "detect" it and see about getting help, if it's set up properly). They should have set it up not to nag more than once, though, as a lot of older people would not know anything about pairing a phone. I'd ask your dealer about turning off this "feature." There may be a diagnostic menu option, but I'm not sure.

Plug your phone into the 1.5 usb in the cave below your infotainment. The car wont ask to connect to Bluetooth if you have it plugged in.

Hey there Sonny :), not all old people are technically incompetent. My background, college degree, eight year Navy nuke, worked 30 years in commercial nuclear power as a nuclear maintenance procedure writer. Presently a photographer for the American Cancer Society and several other charities using those film-less cameras called digital (Nikon D810, Df, D700, Fuji XT-1, Samsung NX1 and Panasonic GX-8) and collecting pension and Social Security.

lol, I meant no offense, brianric. I'm in my mid 40s and am perfectly tech proficient, though many my age aren't. Stereotypes do exist for a reason. I've taught my parents how to use their smart phones, and they do well, but I know many people my age and older who would want nothing to do with a cell phone paired to their car - and it does seem Honda doesn't care about any of them.

I'm just busting your chops. One of the reasons back in 1991 when I was 41 and got the procedure writers job at Hope Creek nuclear over someone who had working experience at Hope Creek is I knew PCs, as I use to build my own back then. I was the go to person in the procedure group when it came to software. I commented to one of my co-workers thank God for people who aren't computer savvy as it allowed good old brianric to be employed until I reached retirement.

Yeah I don't know whats going on, it stopped doing today now lol. When it was doing it, I think its because the car was going to the phone menu of the touch screen (without me telling it to) and now its just staying where I last left it, on the radio menu, when I start up... Not going to bother bringing this up with the dealer - I've got an appointment Monday for a few other things already.

We all wake up from a dream and realize we have really been driving rebranded 1985 Yugos.

I say this in jest, but still...
