I agree. But that's why your price figures are so far off.

You said "fully spec'd" earlier, but there have really only been two versions of the Si: Standard and Navi. Currently they are $23k and $24.5k respectively.

Personally I expect the 2016 Si sedan to start at $24k. It may be a touch more, depending on how wild they get. Then add $2k for the Navi-Sensing option.

That standard price will allow it to remain under the $25k starting price of the GTI as it always has. And the WRX is a little higher, starting at $26.5k.
I think you're right about the starting prices here.

But Honda seems like they might ditch their old pricing model this time and package out the Civic like the other manufacturers do. You can add 10k to all the competition cars with options easily.

The Si has always basically been an EX with a different engine/suspension setup hence why the price over an EX isn't all that huge. I expect it'll be the same for this generation. They're definitely not going to price it out over the GTI. Now... that said, they could offer a more upscale Si which is more like the touring with more power and suspension upgrades but i doubt that... honda likes their "true sports cars" and i imagine just like the regular civic (LX, EX, EXL) we'll only see a mild price increase since it'll probably maintain the EX features to keep weight down. I figure it'll be within $1000 of the current but i don't expect it to jump even that much. Honda's really stepping out of the comfort zone of the Si always being a high revving N/A engine to the new turbo setup. I doubt they'd risk losing diehard fans that also expect it to be "affordable speed" like it always has been as well.

As for the Type R? I don't expect HUGE updates from the current Type R setup (other than the new platform/body/etc) and it'll maintain the same engine as the current car (obviously) and feature a greatly improved suspension setup and driving assist features that will refine the CTR and put it more in line with the Golf R. It'll still be a beast on the track, it'll just be more refined and easier to handle. So again, i don't expect the price of the new CTR to deviate much from the current car which prices out around 30-32k in US currency.

Here's the reason why they probably WONT do a more expensive/luxury esque Si or Type R.... Acura... the next gen ILX will most likely adopt a similar placement as the current ILX which is basically a luxury version of the 4 door Si. Essentially the ILX is a more refined Si Touring... so why would they undercut the next gen ILX in price with an Si with all the touring features? Same goes for the type R if they offer an ILX Type S... that'll essentially be a touring Type R... Acura has some fixing to do to the next gen ILX, but that will help keep the price of the civic DOWN as not to step on toes back and forth.

The top trim civic now hits $24k. You really think its going to jump $10k in price? At those prices it will be at the same price as the accord. The type r will be around 30-35k.
I can see a small price bump equivalent feature for feature, then an additional $1000 for Honda Sensing.

My guess:

$21500ish for the EX ($22,500 for EX w/ Honda Sensing)

EX-L $23,500 ($25k for EX-L w/ Honda Sensing and Nav)

Keep in mind there isn't a touring model Civic yet. I can see that topping out at $27-28k, which is a ridiculous value considering what it comes with. (I benchmarked the Focus Titanium which tops our around $27.5k)

Right, I can see a small model year increase.

Why do you have that impression? No pricing or optioning info has officially been announced and the only hint we have so far is that the EX will be within $200 of the outgoing one.

Not so sure about the regular civic but I believe the Si will hit $35k for sure. At the best, just north of $30k.
I'd be shocked if the new Si hit $35k in any configuration. That'd be 10 grand (40%) more than what the 2015 model starts at! :confused1:

Christmas is too early for the Si. The standard sedan is supposed to launch at dealers at end of Oct - early Nov. Then the coupe has to be introduced, then the Si. If history repeats itself, we might see the Si debut at SEMA next month. But probably wouldn't be on sale until Spring of next year.

I'm surprised no one else commented on that, but honestly I think it's going to be strictly marketing. The Type-R has a torsion beam rear suspension while the 10th gen has multilink (which is actually better). They'll both use front struts, but the Type-R uses a Dual Axis Strut, an aluminum lower control arm, and Adaptive Damper System, none of which the standard 10th gen cars will have in all likelihood.
Yea strictly marketing IMO. Putting anything close to the actual Type R suspension in the standard Civic model would make it way too hardcore and kill sales. Wish they'd just save the 'derived from Type R' marketing talk for the Si model which might be less of a stretch. Using that kind of language for the standard model is like when Infiniti advertises its cars are inspired or benefit from the Infiniti-Red Bull F1 car. They even have the F1 car under their Vehicles section on their website.

Using halo products to do this kind of marketing is expected. The Type R is Honda's halo car and the name's got some real cachet in the auto world so of course Honda is gonna mention it as much as possible, especially when talking about the Civic. Good thing is it sounds like the CTR can back up its reputation. Just hope that some of that sportiness really does rub off on the newest lower models.

My guesses for 2016 Civic msrps before destination

LX 6MT c. $19k
EX CVT c. 22k
EX-T CVT c. 23k
EX-L CVT c. 24.5k
EV-L Navi with Sensing c. 26k
Touring c. 28k

My guess is that there will basically be a $9000 spread between the entry-level manual transmission LX and the top-of-the-line Touring. As is Honda's tradition, each trim level will give you full value for the money.
