I wonder why they say "base" model here but are referring to the EX? Are they meaning base EX (with the 2.0L)

We know there will be an LX... if the LX is priced $200 above the outgoing EX thats a huge price jump...

Fingers crossed they mean "Base EX" and not base trim level for the range (LX).

I couldn't see honda doing that to it's customer base... as good as the new civic sounds, they would lose a ton of business to competition just on cost alone...
I'm sure they mean't EX to EX, otherwise the 2016 LX would be making a $3k+ price jump, and that is definitely not happening. Imagine an LX stickering for $22k hah.

Also, that would mean it would be near identical in price to the Accord, so you know they won't do that. (16 LX $200 more than 15 EX)

Even if there is a modest price increase for the LX, it'll be superior to the model it's replacing. For one, it will feature rear disc brakes. Also, I believe automatic climate control will be standard. On a separate note, this car looks fantastic in red.

Anyone remember what the price increase from the 8th gen to 9th gen was? Or from the 2014 to 2015 model?
Was curious myself so I looked it up...

So there was a $100 buck increase across the board for the 2015 model over the 2014 price.

And the last time there was a new model (9th gen), the price increase was $33 over the 8th gen.

Look forward to reading exactly what suspension and engine components were derived from Type R.
I'm surprised no one else commented on that, but honestly I think it's going to be strictly marketing. The Type-R has a torsion beam rear suspension while the 10th gen has multilink (which is actually better). They'll both use front struts, but the Type-R uses a Dual Axis Strut, an aluminum lower control arm, and Adaptive Damper System, none of which the standard 10th gen cars will have in all likelihood.

The pessimist in me is still betting on $35k+ for a fully spec'd Si. Probably $32 to $35k max for a top trim regular Civic with all available options.

I really hope I'm wrong because if I'm right I'll be priced out of the market I just waited 1.5 years to get into!!

The top trim civic now hits $24k. You really think its going to jump $10k in price? At those prices it will be at the same price as the accord. The type r will be around 30-35k.

Not so sure about the regular civic but I believe the Si will hit $35k for sure. At the best, just north of $30k.

That would make it more expensive than an accord exl v6 touring, a top trim Acura ilx, and on par with a tlx. It just isn't going to happen.

I think Honda will be going after the WRX and GTi with their Si and the STI and Evo with the Type-R.

It would be silly of them to undercharge by a significant margin when the market is already set by the competitors. All Honda has to do is undercut by $500 to $1k and enthusiasts will still jump all over the car as a spectacular deal. It would be silly to redefine the market when the precedent is already set - if they do it would just be sloppy business. Either that or a true "wake up call" as the reviewer put it.

Good point. I'm probably way wrong for the regular Civic. And hopefully way wrong for the Si and Type-R (I think that one will hit mid $45k fully spec'd).

I agree. But that's why your price figures are so far off.

You said "fully spec'd" earlier, but there have really only been two versions of the Si: Standard and Navi. Currently they are $23k and $24.5k respectively.

Personally I expect the 2016 Si sedan to start at $24k. It may be a touch more, depending on how wild they get. Then add $2k for the Navi-Sensing option.

That standard price will allow it to remain under the $25k starting price of the GTI as it always has. And the WRX is a little higher, starting at $26.5k.
