Ok, let's get this going. I'm a big dude and worried about the Type R seats when my car arrives. I'm trying to lose weight, but that can be difficult with 2 herniated disks. My question for everyone is what are some good performance-type seats for a bigger person (40-42 inch waist)?

Let's get this out of the way, I'm in love with the Type R and sold my current car to get the one I bought, so I'm not giving it up. If anyone has any good ideas for seats, I'm listening. I've looked at Braum seats and some others at CarID.com, but if anyone has any advice, I'm listening (technically, reading).

I'm a big dude (6'3" 280) and find the seats to be pretty comfy. They do hold me in but it's not uncomfortable as they are really soft.
This gives me so much hope. Thanks!

They are super snug but if you decide to replace, dibs on the the seats!

A coworker of mine sat in my car. He's 6'1" and about 240 lbs. He said the seats were extremely comfortable for him and they fit like a glove, plus they do have some flex to them. I wouldn't rule out the factory seats just yet. The factory seats being so comfortable might also be a plus for your disks.

I still have not found a dealer that will allow anyone to sit in the car in the show room. How do dealers plan on getting a deposit without allowing people to sit in it, I mean if someone does not fit comfortably or fit in the seat why would they buy it? If you are a bit concern on the seat, I suggest going to a Ford dealership and sitting in a Focus RS, which may help give you an idea on how comfortable you will be in the Type R when your car arrives. Maybe from there you can look for performance shops in your area that sell seats to sit in one if they allow it.

I'm 6'2", 230lbs. and find the seats on my Type R extremely comfortable, I tend to lower them all the way down, but even in the highest position, for big guys there is plenty of clearance to get in and get out.

This is the thread I've been looking for. That's my biggest concern on getting one. I'm 6'5" and drive an EX-L hatch now. I was looking into getting an CTR next year but only if I fit. This gives me hope!

If you have a bad back I would suggest maybe waiting until you can spend a bit of time in the seats seeing they have only manual adjustments there's not going to be a lot of adjustability if they don't fit your body or are hard on your back. I will say over time your body will get used to them somewhat as I hated the Focus ST Recaro's after driving the car the first month but after six months I found an ideal setting and they weren't that bad. Still not as comfortable as say the seats in my R but manageable to the point I didn't really think about them unless I was on a longer drive. I've been a part of tonnes of internet car forums over the years and there are always going to be people that just don't fit in certain seats and the more bolstering the more people may have issues. Subaru has put in pretty mediocre bolstered seats in North American STI's over the years but it's kind of paid off as they are usually agreeable for most people and it's led them to selling a lot of WRX and STI's.

I have a 38 inch waist and the seats are rather snug. How is you guys with 42 in plus waist are saying it's comfortable. You defiantly can't get in them with anything in your pockets. Not to mention the bolsters are so high it is a challenge to get in and out of the car. And actually for me i have zero back issues and any extended time in these seats makes my lower back hurt.
