Hi Everyone,

I have been driving a civic hatchback for two months now and I can say I finally don't go for the climate control before realizing it's not the volume knob! Having this car I don't find the lack of volume knob an issue. Anyone else agree who has owned the civicx for a similar amount of time?

There are a lot more owners who have owned the car for 1.5 years now with far more mileage than you who are clearly content enough with it to NOT post about it so...

I still think it's absolutely stupid to have a knob for climate control instead of volume.

I mean c'mon...isn't the point of climate control to SET AND FORGET?

When in the world will I need to swing the temperature wildly up or down?

It's as if the controls were designed for those idiots who swing their climate control to "Low" (lowest setting possible) because the car is hot from sitting in the parking lot. My god, the AC is already going to work at full force, because it already knows inside temperature is way higher than your target temp. Cranking it lower isn't going to do crap. You might as well save money and not offer climate control to those people.

I think this has been beaten to death... Yes, everyone would like a volume knob, and yes it's annoying. They'll probably add one to the mid-cycle refresh (see CR-V or Odyssey)

Add full separate climate control display as well to the list. That's more annoying IMO than the lack of a volume knob.

I dont know .. I've driven my 9th SI for 2 years + and I didn't really care for a volume knob. I mean ... There is one on the steering wheel that I just press up or down.
My '16 ILX has a volume knob but in the year of ownership I don't think I've ever used that knob. Just the button on the steering wheel is fine, for me at least.

Hey there, LeaveEarly. Not sure why the rude replies. Some did not read your message and thought you were complaining... I agree with you and actually like the on-screen flyout slider area for volume control. What a cleanly designed instrument panel! Also, volume slider works exactly like the one in the $150,000 NSX... Incidentally I am surprised more reviews do not mention the NSX DNA found in the Civic X. I even see it in the hoodline. Love my Civic!

After 600 miles, I'm used to it and don't mind it at all, but would still prefer to have one. I think that just because you can get accustomed to it, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. As the daily driver, it's easy for me to say though... anytime I have a passenger the temp control will be used lol

The new-for-2018 design goes back to the volume knob. Not sure if/when the system will filter down to the Civic, but here it is on the Odyssey:

Yeah, I think them adding it back to those two vehicles means it's a virtual certainty that it will be coming back to the Civic too.

I'm hoping it will be compatible with the current headunits, because I'll buy one and put it in my car if so. 21,000 miles into ownership and the lack of it still annoys me.

I thought the no volume knob would bug me but it doesn't. It's so easy and convenient to control everything from the steering wheel. On the other hand, if I had a passenger in the car the knob would be a big improvement for them.

I still don't understand how this matters. If it's cold, then the car senses it and turns on the heater. If it's hot, it senses and turns on the AC. All to reach your ideal comfortable temperature

Do I live fine without a volume knob? Yes. But I still don't see a point in still having a knob for climate control. Hell, Honda should have just gone all the way and removed all knobs for a clean interior aesthetic.

I had an eyebrow raising moment seeing what I consider advanced technology in the tesla having just one button to operate...everything touch and swipe.

Dagnabit I was able to give up my land line rotary phone just fine!
