So we have all seen that Tire Rack is offering a lot of different aftermarket wheel options for the Type R. My question is in regards to the offset. A lot of these wheels offered by Tire Rack have an offset significantly less than the stock 60. Won't this cause the aftermarket wheel to stick out further than stock and potentially cause issues with suspension, alignment, handling and maybe even make the wheel arches more susceptible to rock chips? Please educate me on what I am missing here, appreciate your guys thoughts! This is why I worked to source a set of the Euro FK2 19" wheels which are identical specs to ours.

I just had a long chat with Tire Rack.

Every single wheel option that is filtered under the vehicle come with a fitment guarantee to ensure brake clearance, and no fender rubbing. This is a peace of mind feature that is motivating me to go lower offset.

I have no doubt that they have measured to ensure brake and fender clearance, but I still don't know if that answers the question on suspension and handling dynamics. I'm still suspect, but I'm no expert.

Definitely. I'm sure Honda has all this data, but more likely they won't provide that to enthusiasts. It'll most likely be a Trial & Error and learning from experience deal.

I just ordered a set of 19x8.5 ET35 O.Z. Wheels / Michelin Pilot 4S Tires - This will bring out the wheel out about an inch.

I'm sure it'll give it an aggressive look, but I'm also looking forward to the impact on driving dynamics.

i dont know much about this dual axis strut but it sounds like the wheel offset was chosen so its pivot would be exactly where it cancels the torquesteer. Not sure if changing the offset can induce torquesteer.

Went with Hyper GT HLT - Star Graphite 19x8.5 with the 35mm offset. Wheel is only 21lb and I think this will shave 5-6lb off the total wheel/tire combo

Should have this stance & look (on this BMW M2) . And hopefully the handling is not compromised, fingers crossed.

Not a fan of cast wheels. Good luck.

Well...

Assuming you're a forged wheel guy.. and aside for the higher ticket price for an average forged wheel. Whats your reasoning behind that?

Forged is certainly stronger, but generally wheel manufacturers forge a wheel to use less spoke material therefore the strength of a forged wheel is mitigated by shaving spoke material. It could still be stronger, but they're all built to withstand a load rating. If you seriously curb a wheel.. doesn't matter how they're built.

Forged wheel has the strength/ weight advantage but if you never track the car then it's a wash. Cast will do fine.
Appreciate that! Not all cast is equal from my research and O.Z. does a great job in fabricating them low weight.. 21lb 19" wheel is extremely light for its size.
