I feel you man I really do. I guess I just had a little buyers remorse. In hindsight you get a flagship car and get to have a blast so yeah. I want to keep it forever just because its so special. I am thinking that Honda released this first wave as a special wave with the number plates. The next waves and model years won't have the number plates. Not sure though.

The amount of attention this thing gets driving down the street is amazing. Kid was turned around in his car taking a video on his phone.. Feels coooooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!

thanks for the words.
Money is money, in my opinion you make it to spend it... otherwise what's the point of the daily grind? As said, if you wanted the trusty econo-box that gets you from point A to point B reliably you'd stick with a base Civic LX. There's a reason you want the Type R over the LX, EX, and Si models, remember that and enjoy. You're young enough where an extra 8k isn't going to ruin you over the next 60 months. Again, as long as you can make the payments without going on the ramen noodle diet, live it up.

I've had guys in R8s and 911 Turbos coming over and talking to me about the R, admiring it. It's a good feeling when people with cars 3-4x the cost of yours still giving you props. Even parked next to a 90s NSX and the owner came out of the store to check out the R (while I'm still gawking over his NSX haha).

I have been wanting this car for a while and I even made a thread a couple of days ago saying how I got screwed out of one. Well this weekend I did everything I could to get one and I finally did.

I paid a little bit more than I think I should have. Don't get me wrong I love the car, but I am only 24 and I don't know if I made a huge mistake and gave in to impulse.

Really feeling like I did something irresponsible. I paid $8k markup and they talked me in to expensive warranties...

Need advice. Help me feel better.

Edit: Breathe, don't forget to focus on your breaths.

The car is expensive (compared to a garden variety LX like mine but not super cars) so don't worry about the expensive warranties, this is the least of your concerns. Now the car note should be your #1 priority. At 24, you should easily be able to score an extra job or two. IF you ask me I say new cars are expensive and cost prohibitive and the used car market is where the savings are at. But then you never get anything new. Remember, the R is a daily driver so you dodged a bullet there. IT is not fi$cally responsible what you did but I would get lost in 3 jobs and forget this sordid affair.

Don't feel bad, I am literally suffering with this exact problem, I won't even drive it now. I paid 3000.00 over and am having wtf syndrome over no spare tire and daily driving due to summer time track tires only being good for 10k miles. Yes we overpaid, no waiting will not change a thing, they are all sold or will be and nobody is getting a deal on this car no matter how long they wait.

In the mean time while it sits in my garage waiting on its real owner; anyone know where to get that Type R front plate I see in all the demos?

It is good to know that I can go back and kill that 10 yr 120,000 mile warranty that cost 3200.00

I did that once. I bought a new Infiniti G (306 HP, RWD, sweet-sounding VQ engine) which was by far the nicest car I'd ever owned at that point. It was so beautiful that I didn't want to drive it for fear it would get dirty or damaged. So, it sat in the garage while I drove around in a well-used Ford Ranger beater that I bought from a co-worker for cheap. I finally sold the car a year later.

A month ago, I picked up a new Si. At half the going rate for a Type R and much of the fun factor, I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere. $25K was cheap.

Well some good comments here but the bottom line is you bought the car because you wanted it. I did the same thing. Had an MSRP deal for a blue R and passed for a red with a 2k ADM. I wanted another vette but the wife said no.... Don't worry about a damn thing man just enjoy the car. I picked up the extended warranty as well. Normally I don't do that when buying a Honda. I wish I had bought one for my wife's crosstour, with 113000 miles it's burning some oil. Problems with the 3.5 engine I didn't know about. Keep the warranty, the R may be problem free but when you get involved with turbocharged engines it may help you sleep at night.

this may make you feel better or not. If you want a warranty!!! call Sean. you can get that same warranty for 805 bucks and still have 2000 to spend on exhaust and tune:)))) these are genuine Honda warranties.

I did a little research, they offered me a 7 year 100000 for 2995. I told them I found the same one for 805 "wtf". They said they could match that for 5 dollars more. Talk about stealership. can you imagine all the people that paid 2995 and the markup and profit they must make. Holy Capitalism shit. We could start a business selling these to people that buy new and just mark them up 20 percent. you could pay off the extra 8 grand in no time

Don't fret the 8 grand. It's a fantastic car. I gave up a FRS and a 2002 911 turbo. Granted I still have a porsche:) but I can tell you this, I don't regret it for a moment. I love this car!!!! And while I didn't pay 8000 adm. I did pay above and frankly I don't give a shit.

I did the same thing with a Corvette convertible. Decided I wanted something that I would be willing to drive more frequently, and that the whole family could ride in together. So, I bought a nicely restored '69 Camaro, and the family liked to hit car shows in it. I was still scared that it might get damaged, but not the same way as the Corvette. My son actually cried when I sold the Camaro to guy that came to St. Louis all the way from New Mexico with a car trailer to get it.

I'd say as far as the OP and the CTR, if is within your financial means, keep it and enjoy it the fullest extent.

I also put down a deposit for one that may come in a couple months, now I feel like I may have been too hasty ...
Unless your deposit was non-refundable, you've done nothing wrong. Just decide when (if) the car arrives at the dealership.

You live once man. I got mine for 36.5 which was 2 above MSRP. I also got the tire package and 30K/60K package where they change all the fluids for 995.00 built into the deal when its about 2K to do it, so i got a grand off and i'll be using it for sure at 30 and 60K. If you got yours for 45ish -- dont worry about it. I'm 31 and I love the car.

The way I see it is... if you wanted one that badly then don't think twice about it and enjoy it. As for the extended warranty you can cancel it. I tried to buy Honda Plus (got it for fairly cheap) but their systems were done the night of signing and so they couldn't process my Honda Plus so I just said screw it and saved a bunch of money. As others have said, if the car was going to have major issues you'd see it fairly quickly in the first 20, 000 miles. Take care of the car but MORE importantly is enjoy it!
