SO do you guys think the Type R grill would fit in a 2016?

Yes yours is a RS grille, but you have a 2 piece middle grille. At least it looks like it. Whereas, hatchback and Type R grille is one piece middle grille.

The thing is that they are all different dimensions. Even though we know hatchback grille fits the 16 Civic.

2016 Civic EX is:71121-TBA-A01 (L) 49.80 (W) 16.00 (H) 10.01
2017 Civic Hatchback is:71121-TGG-A01 (L) 48.54 (W) 14.03 (H) 5.99
2017 Type R is: 71121-TGH-A01 (L) 34.40 (W) 8.87 (H) 4.9

Maybe those dimensions are for packaging, and not the actual item?

Thats what I thougth as well. But the guy said it the actual item. Doesn't make any sense. IF the hatchback grille is exact same. Then even the box should be the same.

To me, even the type R grill looks exactly the same.

Did you ever get this fixed? I'm thinking about replacing my grill too but want to make sure it's not going to be an issue with fitment.
Mine did this as well. If you decide to get a new grill id let a body shop do it. It's pretty terrible taking the bumper off, most the clips will break and mine has this bad fitment as well.

I put zip ties behind mine to remove the gap between the upper bumper and the grill, and now it's starting to pull the upper bumper downwards, I assume permanently damaging it.

I have a intercooler coming this week so I think when I install that I'm gonna remove the zip ties and just let the gap exist.
