For Honda Dealerships in Houston: (context - I've worked extensively in car business sales; I know all the tricks and know how to read "fake" sincerity for the sake of a sale)
Honda of Spring are assholes. Salesperson gave me the usual bullshit of "lets talk numbers and run your credit before the test drive" on a Civic Si. As I was leaving, he's doing the usual run back to the customer, but he told me the EXACT same thing. I was expecting him and the manager to back down, but no. Terrible service/responses by email too. Within the same day I was told "no Si's yet" and "they're in this morning in the back!"
Russel and Smith Honda are annoying. They will upsell you on free oil changes and crap if you buy from them, don't buy into their nonsense. They also upsell EVERY car $800 because they put Nitrogen in them. Total. Bullshit. They defended it completely against me and acted like I was doing them a HUGE favor when they finally removed it.
Honda of Katy was THE most annoying. When the Civic Si's arrived in town, I called each dealership to see what types of Si's they got (if I liked the Si enough, I wanted to leave with the one I'd buy). Sales person told me 3 months without even considering checking. I told him to check again with your manager. Then he told me one month. I knew he was wrong since the truck was delivering to every Honda dealership today. Whatever, I went to another one. Later that day on the way to test drive an Si, I get a call from Honda of Katy that they got them in. I told them to fuck off, because I already called and asked them to make sure. They continued to call me 4 more times asking if I was still in the market.
John Eagle Honda is about 50/50 on getting a good salesperson or a shitty one, but otherwise they're not that bad. Their availability/inventory always sucked though.
Spring Branch Honda people were clueless. They never answered my calls/emails and never had an idea when anything would come in while other dealerships did. Meh overall.
Allen Honda in college station was worth the drive. They are great guys. Bought my (used) CR-Z from them, my Sport Touring hatch from them and they gave me a great deal on their first Si. I would drive to them again if I was ever in a market for another Honda.
Best of luck finding a Type R and dealing with said dealerships!
