I have my auto lock set for when I walk away from the car. It seems to work for most of the time, but at random, it will beeping quickly as I am walking away, and not lock the vehicle......Any others experiencing this or have a fix?

Just wait a second or two after closing the door and stand next to your car. You will hear one beep knowing the car is locked. If you walk away to fast, then you will hear the 3 beeps like you have noticed.

This usually works for me.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try. I wonder why it is at random and not every time? I don't feel like I walk away quicker certain times than others... :dunno:

RF stuff is funny that way. Who knows? Maybe some times you are closer to RF noise sources than others? Lots of possibilities.

Same thing happens to me. Haven't figured out the cause. It's almost as if the car gets confused. I have two workarounds:

1. Use the remote to lock the doors.
2. Open and close the driver's door. Car gets un-confused, and locks doors as per normal.

It doesn't happen often enough to pursue at this time. I might mention it to the dealer next time I'm in for service. Problem is they will likely not be able to reproduce it, so unless it gets classified as a known issue, I'm afraid we might need to simply live with it.

Sorry if there's already a thread on this, but how do you set up the auto lock feature? Thanks

Setting | Vehicle | Door / Window Setup | Walk Away Auto Lock.

When the car makes the rapid beeping 10 times or so. It means there's a door open, the car is running or the key is inside the vehicle.

if it is beeping quickly that means the car thinks your fob key is still in the car. just use your key and manually lock it or just open the door and close it again.

if it beeps once that means you are good. it is telling you that all doors are closed and the fob key is with you.

Except sometimes, it is none of the above and the car is just confused. When that happens, albeit rarely, I use the keyfob to lock the doors as I'm walking away.

How does the Civic know if the fob is still in the car?

Edit: How would the Civic know that the fob is still in the car but the driver isn't?

It jus does? Kinda like how you cant start the car if your friend holds your key fob outside the vehicle and you push the button inside. It knows its proximity to the base

That I get, but I imagine the car knows the proximity of the fob, not the person.

For example, several times I've left the fob in the car with my girlfriend because I forgot something in the house and it never beeped at me.
