Hello.

As you may recall a few days ago I posted my issues with the brakes on my Touring. So today I went over to the dealer to get my 15k oil change and routine check-up and whatnot at the dealer, including requesting them to install the hatch grill & emblems.

The results? I'm fucking pissed. Sorry for the language - but I waited 6 hours to what amounts to as a half-assed job at the dealer.

First of all, none of the issues I told the Service Advisors were fixed. Worse than that, issues that weren't present before ARE NOW there.

1) I pointed out that when I turn the steering fully to the left, it makes a pretty noticeable grinding noise - the Service Advisor agrees. But when the tech gets the car, voila! "No sounds were present". After the service, this was the FIRST thing I did to check to see if it was fixed, NOPE. Tech must be fucking deaf.

2) I pointed out that my brakes don't bite as it should - voila! Everything comes out normal even though the brakes feel like I'm driving a car with 60k+ miles on it. But its okay, as long as the tech can coast along his job today.

3) I pointed out my CVT was jerky. Their solution? Reset the ECU and make it worse. So my CVT feels like it has lower torque on first and second gear and on third gear there's torque steer when I press the throttle 1/2 deep now! Awesome! Additional turbo lag + CVT being unstable as the our President's emotions!

4) I requested that they install my hatch grill because honestly I'm tired of work and I don't feel like installing it myself. They did this right, or so I thought. Below are the pictures of the aftermath of the installation. Its not fully clipped and WTF is down there near my intercooler?

Btw, I don't hear my turbo spool anymore. Wonder why.

5) This is just a fucking joke to me right now. So I tell them to install my Red JDM emblem and the guy does it right on the front grill. On the rear? Get ready to laugh. He LITERALLY took off the spoiler and the trunk's panel! When the Service Advisor took me to the back, I was LMAO-ing in my mind! Jesus fucking christ, how do you install an emblem by taking off the spoiler and the inside panel of the trunk? By making it go through? So I literally just took the tape off the emblem and aligned it with the emblem spot and I literally punched that shit it to show what an idiot he's being. This added to my labor hours charge by about 30 minutes (which I got them to take off because I pointed out how ridiculous he's being)

6) Hey look, my car now has alignment issues AFTER I brought it in to the dealer! Now instead of being perfectly fine on the road, I have to hold my steering to the left always because the car wants to go RIGHT all the time! Woo more fun for me!!~!~!~!

This is the first time that I've receive a piss poor job from this dealer. I've done DOZENS of business (car sales) with this dealer and I've never had a problem with them. But unfortunately it seems their tech is an idiot. IDIOT.

/rant over.

I'm sorry you experienced this, and I understand your desire to rant, but this isn't what (in my mind) adults would do in situations like this.

1. If the service adviser agrees with the groaning, they far out-rank any technicians. The tech can't say "I don't hear it", when the adviser has agreed it's there. Something's not right with your story.
2. Did you ask the adviser to drive your car? Any dealership will get thousands of ignorant customers claiming some BS or other, and sometimes it's difficult for them to weed out the morons. You either have them compare a new car back-to-back with yours, or have someone drive yours. I suspect it's just some air in your brake lines; get an adviser to confirm spongy brake pedal feel, ask them to bleed brake lines.
3. An ECU reset resets all the driving parameters, and your car is now relearning things like AF ratios and throttle positions. You need about ~50 miles of driving for the ECU to fully reset. This is why you can't get emissions testing if your battery just died, you need to drive around for a while. Most, if not all your driving issues should correct themselves, including your quiet turbo. There is a TSB for CVT surges, that's highly documented and all over these forums. All you had to do was print out a copy and bring it to the dealer. That's what I did with the head-unit update, no problems.
4. Yes, that grill install job is shit. Take it back and get them to fix it. The bottom part you see in front of the intercooler is because they didn't put the underbody panels back on properly after they put back the bumper.
5. If he took off the spoiler, there's a chance that paint has now rubbed off where the spoiler meets the trunk lid, and there's bare steel exposed. Which will rust. I suggest you take off the spoiler again, and apply touch-up. Or get the dealer to do it when you take it in to re-do the grill. Given your tendency to write in capitals and bold letters, I suggest you go through with this, I can only imagine your post if you find specks of rust next year.
6. Alignment issues is BS. There's absolutely no way, unless they dropped your car from the hoist.

Lastly, if the job wasn't done up to par, you shouldn't have walked away from the dealership.

Anyway, if you read the above carefully, between the snide remarks and thinly veiled insults at you (for fun, really - no real offense meant), you'll actually find good advice. A final piece of advice would be that rants like this, while somewhat understandable, make you look like you're throwing a tantrum - not something any forum member really wants to deal with.

Good luck with the issues, and keep us updated.

The people that whine and have no legit gripe used to be the annoying ones, now everyone get ripped, legit or farce. I thought this guy had a legit gripe and I would not leave the dealer until I was good. I remember the days when Canadians were friendly and some might even dare say nice. What the heck happened to america light?

Not entirely sure what you mean, but I said, he should not have left the dealer.

I would escalate this if the service advisor doesn't fix the issue. The issue with them installing the grill is complete BS as well. Did you pay for everything in full after it was done as such?

Unfortunately there's no fix for this jerky transmission. Mine is still jerky 1.6 years later. When I first got the car they kept it for 8 days and came back saying nothing is wrong. I ended up pulling the battery hoping that it would reset the transmission and smooth it out but didn't help. And the car is even worse in sport mode.

This is why I haven't bothered with the Hatch grille yet. It's expensive, and people don't do it right.

I'm on phone right now so I don't have much time to repond to each of you but as far as leaving the dealership when I wasn't satisfied is because I had things to do after the dealership planned that I had to attend to.

I already called the dealership and I would be bringing the car back this Saturday morning to fix the situation. The service advisor is a nice lady so I'll talk about this calmly with her when I get back.

This was my first bad experience with this dealer and I'd like to think this is one of those bad moments and maybe I just had a crappy tech. But my need to rant this out was justified because it much better than lashing out there and there and waste my time because it would've been close to closing time and there was no way in hell they could've fixed it in time.

The grill fitting + whatever that thing in front of my intercooler + alignment + brakes + grinding noise is a lot of problems and the tech probably thought "fuck it I'll just install the grill and he'll be happy".

Hopefully this'll get fixed next Saturday because I'm not going on a 1200 mile trip with this shit.

The CVT feels like a normal automatic with the shifting. I can literally feel it when it shifts LOL. Or at the very least, its not as smooth as CVTS supposed to be.

Edit: for the grinding noise when i turn the wheel to the left, the Service Advisor then told me that the tech said its probably due to the electric steering wheel (which is BS). For the alignment, she did not say anything because I had no alignment issues in the first place. But as I took it home, I feel the car drifting towards the right. And its not my imagination because its been 70 miles since I took it out of service and its consistently there (the drifting). When I reported the CVT issues, they dismissed it by sayinf "no transmission problem found" on report. And its been 70 miles after they reset the ECU and I can tell you the CVT feels very wrong.

This cvt doesn't fake shift unless you have the gas pedal to the floor. But yea I've driven nissans cvt and it's smoother then the civics. Next car definitely will not have a cvt.

If you're anywhere near ATL I'd welcome you to try it yourself. First to third gear its very jerky and the shifts are noticeable. The random downshifts that it does is also annoying.

I dont know why some of you guys assume Im trying to rip Honda off or anything by assuming Im making up stories. Im merely explaining what I had gone through. Damn.

Dude, my car was born on May 25, 2017 and it has none of that.

I noticed mine about 3 days later with 80 miles. So you may be fine. I've been over it with many people on this forum and some say it's very jerky like mine and others say it's smooth. I just can't believe the vast different in the same transmission. But maybe it's just everyone has a different perspective. I notice everything from rattles to every paint chip. But I've had countless other issues with this car. Which had led me to start looking for a new car.

I don't think your making up stories. My car is the same as your 16 civic touring. And it's plagued with problems. It's just the cvt is changing ratios not shifting. But it's very jerky. Doesn't change into a higher ratio smoothly unless I hit the gas pretty aggressively. If not I get this jerk and it raises the revs very little. And coming to a stop I get 2 to 3 jerks foward before stopping fully.

Also the transmission still grinds after the tsb.
My engine rattles on cold starts. They can't fix the subwoofer rattle. I have about 6 different rattle, buzzing creeking noises in the cabin. The Infotainment system has went completely out on me twice. The rain sensing wipers dont work. I've probably missed some but you get the point. If they had a 30 day return policy this car would have gone back on day three when I felt the transmission acting crazy.
