The place you do business with should have a no dealer markup policy, Lithia Honda does, and that's why I do business with them and have bought 2 Accords in the last 3 years from them...gotta shop around for a dealer like a doctor or Barber...there are good ones out there

Never would I pay above msrp on a mass produced car like the Si. Its pretty simple really...
Its better for the dealer to make $500 off a deal and to gain a customer than to make nothing. Up here in the Toronto area there are a ton of Honda dealers all within an hour or less. You can bet at least one of them will sell below msrp to make the sale. These dealers have sales targets monthly. They can get massive bonuses from Honda for exceeding the targets.
This. This isn't a Porsche...and even then, I know plenty of people who have purchased/leased Porsche's who don't pay MSRP. I wouldn't ever do it. I don't care if it's the Si, Type R, or whatever. It is absolutely asinine...especially when in a couple weeks they will be selling it hundreds of dollars below MSRP just to meet quotas...don't ever do that.

I've considered doing business with Lithia of Medford, OR. I didn't know they had a no markup policy, I may do business with them after all.

My Lithia Honda dealer is in Ames Iowa, not sure if they are all related dealers though

Just got word this afternoon that CDN Si pricing has been sent to dealers and we should be seeing something this coming Monday/Tuesday. Honda.ca should also be updated with the Si section & pricing like the US.

I visited my rep at the Honda dealership and he had a memo from Honda with the pricing, it didn't seem he wanted me to see exactly what the pricing was, so I didn't ask to have a look at the paperwork, we will see it very soon anyways!

Unfortunate. Lets hope they have a similar policy in Oregon. Then again, a large part of me wants to wait until the next generation of Mazdaspeed 3's come out. I'd like to be able to have options to compare in the sport compact segment. By that time the price of an Si will have come down.

Why the fuck is the coupe $500 more for the Si and Touring models? You lose power and rear heated seats, you need two less door handles, actuators, locks etc and the car takes less metal to build. There's a reason why coupes up north couldn't sell even if a cheap Thai hooker was advertising it with her services for free.

It should be the same price or less. Pretty annoyed.. $400 isnt pocket change. I plan on possibly getting a coupe, the sedan looks like crap.

Coupes are most likely priced higher to make up for the lower sales volume over the sedan. The sedans sell in much much larger quantities, therefore Honda is able to keep the price lower on them and still make money on them, while the coupes sell in much lower volumes so there is a slight markup in price over the sedan to make up for the fact they're building a variation that doesn't sell as well. It's the same mindset behind why trim levels are set the way they are, features, packages, etc. The more variations you have the higher the price across the board.

Also, on the lower trim levels LX/EXT the coupe features things the sedan doesn't have like alloy wheels and the larger 10-speaker stereo system that's only available on the sedan touring.

Because they want to, and they can.

I just have one question for those of you tempted by a price quote which includes dealer markup. Is it really worth it to spend another $2-3000 when we know for a fact that they will be begging you to take the car at or below MSRP in just a few months when inventory normalizes? They're just taking advantage of you. Don't do it. Just wait. They might come down to MSRP a lot sooner than you think ;)
I might be forced to pay a small premium if it became impractical to keep my current ride going another few months. I just swapped out the slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. And now have to swap what I believe is an AC compressor coil failure. Parts aren't cheap on specialty trims like the MS3. And it's something GTI, ST, and WRX owners will also experience during long term ownership. Many are dealer-only or special order components.

For me, each fix is equivalent to 50-100% of a monthly car payment. Combined with the downtime, it's increasingly difficult to wait things out. If things get really bad, and the market value on the Si isn't where I expect to be, I may just settle for an EX-T ($19K).

So it is really easy to get 2 to 4 k off sticker now?
